Putting the BAW functionality to bed.

We know based on the recent 8 tires in the bed that the width of cybertruck will be around 60" or 5 feet.

now If we were to assume the Cybertruck windshield to be a square and eyeballing some of the BAW shape and size this is how the BAW would wipe the CT windshield.

No telescopic or complex systems required. this also explains the fairly lower positioning of the front AP cameras.

The surprise is going to be 2 BAWs, to provide more symmetry, function and two bonus flag posts when in the raised position. 1st of July, 4th of July parade flags and with the wiper function the flags will wave!

The Frunk will open next to the BAW. The BAW is aligned with the A pillar and will not be visible from inside.

A question on the design. With most wipers the first stroke sends the water up and away. I have to assume when the the BAW is set to interval wiping it will rest in the horizontal position in between stokes?
That increases drag so I doubt it.

The wiper will push the water towards the passenger side and wind will blow most of the water off the end of the wipers even on the downstroke. I suspect wind will do most of the water clearing regardless. The slope of the window is much shallower than a typical car window and large amounts of rain will blow off naturally.

That is one hell of a gap between the body and rear bumper.

That would be needed so you can open the tailgate. On my current truck (1996 GM) you can see the ground at some angles.

Interesting photo. One thing that looks very clear to me is the cut lines on the side of the front. Looks like they adapted the F150's style frunk, and the front of the vehicle will open with the hood. that's a very good thing, the Ford approach is the best by far.
I think you might be right

My BAW will be stored in the Frunk most of the time in Southern California.

You all know the song, "It never rains in California, but when it does it pours". Well, we can go for months without ANY rain. With the angle of that windshield and some RainX It will be fine. Then when I need the BAW it will be a simple install. (who knows, maybe I could have a quick release on mine).

I’m starting to worry they won’t have the wiper solved in time for production.
I get no one wants to wait another five years for them to figure out the laser beams idea. But that thing is ugly yes.
My question: has anyone done a schematic to see how much coverage one wiper has on the windscreen? If this wiper leaves the passenger with half a view in the rain, that kind of annoyance would kill a normal car’s sales.
Sadly, I have to agree with you on this. I was hoping that they would solve the electromagnetic wiper technology and use that instead of a BAW but we are getting close to lock down on everything and still see the BAW on the truck. I cannot see how it can possibly cover the entire windshield view, and am not even convinced that it will clear the windshield in front of the cameras.

I saw in a YT video that the armor glass is so slick that RainX won't even be needed.

Didn't the BAW get confirmed to not be production by Elon?
He said that the one we saw earlier wouldn't be the production wiper. He didn't say it wouldn't be a BAW.

I only went 4 pages back. But The wiper will probably mimic the old Mercedes single arm that extended out to hit the corners.

Yes. This could be how the BAW manages to clear the camera and get more of the windshield in the process.

I like how the panel gaps on driver's side give away that the grille opens with the hood for frunk access. The wiper base bends in the arm show the clearance the hood requires.
My guess is the hood moves forward as it opens and like the falcon wing doors on x the grille area becomes a bit of a roof.
I do like the frailgate idea too. The drl would then become the overhead light if it opens with the hood.
As well as a searchlight for passing aircraft :)
