I agree. FSD is not a big selling point to me. But if I pull the trigger on the FS purchase I would have expected it to be there in beta. I've been going back and forth on purchasing the FS this weekend after my invite during the week. Even before hearing this I was leaning against purchasing as of today. Does anyone know how long you have to decided after your invite? I logged in yesterday for the first time to look at details. I might just wait it out and see more data on range before deciding to purchase any Cybertruck.
I got my email more than 3 weeks ago and I can still log in to place my order for a FS CT. I wish there was a way to decline the Foundation Series so that someone else further down the line has the option to buy quicker.

Only Tesla can sell vaporware at premium prices. This is so crazy. FSD isn't out of Beta on my Model 3, so it doesn't work. I just ordered a FS CT, paying for FSD and now I find out Tesla doesn't plan to prioritize installing it on the Cybertruck?

It's very aggravating when people don't take the time to understand beta software and the development lifecycle. This is literally the only safe way to make the software available to the public. But I supposed some people are just never satisfied no matter what ?‍♂

I'm not a lawyer but I'd suggest everyone taking delivery of a FS Cybertruck send notice to Tesla opting out of arbitration. I'll certainly send notice as per their purchase agreement no matter what Cybertruck I end up with.
What do you mean?

I agree. Tesla is ahead of the curve because they have millions of vehicles providing data with billions of miles of driving each year.

And buying things with future expectations actually isn't uncommon whenever you buy software basically for life. The biggest example I can think of is gaming. Some games are sold in early alpha state, take a couple years to reach beta, take years longer to be actually released.

The biggest thing people need to understand is Tesla doesn't lie about what the car can do currently. It doesn't say you can relax and take your hands off the wheel. Sure their future expectations have taken longer but when someone is buying something for what it can do in the future, they have to expect there could be complications.

I think that as long as Tesla releases improvements and continuously plans for the future with how FSD will improve, they are doing the right thing in my eyes. If they ever give up on FSD and the idea of self driving, or they stop improving it. I would also be upset and want the difference between enhanced auto pilot and FSD refunded. but I don't see them ever giving up.

Hmmm, I wonder how much time they give you before it moves down the line? Isn’t there a support number in the ordering link you can call?

Not privy to anything Tesla is Really doing of course, but to me it could be as simple as a two-step process.
First get Autopilot calibrated for precise control of the CT form factor (steering, accelerating, braking, then turning while braking, then turning while accelerating, etc.) then apply these parameters to train FSD (via data that’s calibrated for CT) through Dojo then … send it out OTA to our CTs. Could it be that simple? ??‍♂

That is confusing to me. Tesla already had a very large dataset. It is true that the Cybertruck will be from a little bit higher angle but they *already* deal with this since the TM3 and TMS are lower than the TMY and TMX.
If it were just traditional coding with physics calculations changing vehicle parameters and testing would likely be sufficient, but since FSD is now IA I would guess it will require substantial training data to fully recognize vehicle behavior in every circumstance. Hopefully, their methodology has techniques for it to associate Cybertruck behaviors with existing datasets and more quickly learn to relate them.

LOLOL, not only Tesla, that is a cornerstone of the software industry.

Yeah, it's crazy paying for something that we might not even see or utilize for a year or more. We are pretty much preordering FSD with an unknown release date.

I usually like paying for stuff I receive immediately or within a reasonable amount of time. We shouldn't even be allowed to preorder FSD unless there is a predicted release.

I mean, how many Cybertrucks has to be in the fleet before Tesla prioritizes its release? I understand there are many variables that FSD has to account for in the Cybertruck, but why pay for it when only God knows the release date? Come on, man!
They will likely never prioritize it, but as the fleet grows that will both enable and incentivize its move up.

Wait, I thought this is a settled matter.

The FS has FSD, and that I clearly recall.

Beta or what, FSD is in continuous development to the point that you can summon it from CA to fetch you in NY Times Square.

Yeah, but we are at that stage where it is a grayed out option on your screen. :geek:

My model x has had FSD enabled for a few years now. Will be hard to go without it. Also, I feel glad to have a model without the cabin camera so I don’t feel like I’m being watched and scolded all the time.
