This one runs on DC voltages 130-450 so inverter from Cybertruck 220VAC might not be costly.

And how do you plan to mount this on the CT? How are the steering linkages going to attach and be controlled from the cabin?

I plan to use my truck to launch my boat, but under the category of "stuff happens", this is good to know. I've seen cars totaled by flash floods and rising tides, so this isn't as crazy as it sounds.
Also stuff happens when we are not even in the vehicle. One more reason for me to give up my childhood dream of owning a Lambo to switch over to owning a CT.

I believe what Elon was saying is the body would be water tight enough to not flood the interior and any electrical components. It won't be a boat that floats, at least I hope it doesn't float because that would be a problem when crossing streams. The CT might be heavy enough to keep it in contact with a road or stream bed. I saw a commenter mention a 10" level but I can do that in my Tacoma (but never would except in an emergency). I'm guessing the doors will have a tight seal and, maybe, the entire cabin area would be sealed as well. If this is how it's designed, and the CT is heavy enough, it might be able to handle ~2-ft or more of water, which would definitely be a benefit in flooded areas. I don't think Tesla designers would need to do much of anything extra to make the interior water tight for this amount of water.

This one runs on DC voltages 350V so maybe Tesla could sell as factory option with direct feed from Cybertruck traction battery pack

Anywhere between 10-20kW will do I think. I don't think you want it to plane, flat bottom with wheels sticking out (even with wheels up) would not be very stable whilst skimmung accross the water. At that power level it could come from the 240V inverter.

I wonder if 4WS is good enough as rudder?

If you dip the nose and push the rear up using the airsuspension you can drive partially submerged under the wake for traction.
That's a good idea for shallow water where you aren't floating.

And Icm pretty sure it will come with a trolling motor option.
Not seeing it. I have a ton of experience boating on rivers with jet propulsion. There's no way to have enough control without inboard jets. Try it with your hitch-mounted prop drive and you're going to lose your prop and float away.

The *only* case where is this even slightly plausible would be a calm lake with a good boat ramp, and no wind. Even then, the lengths you'd have to go to control the outboard steering from the cabin are ridiculous. More likely, Elon plans the CT to propel and steer using the spinning tires, which is not going to be great.

You can forget the ocean and any kind of moving water. They may be able to make South Padre work if they monitor the currents and are super careful. But most of the time, the currents are going to beat you easily.

Tesla Cybertruck Cybertruck is waterproof enough to serve as a boat to cross rivers, lakes & calm seas -- confirms Musk 🚤 1664474641223

I'll use this amphibious feature in nearby lakes and rivers, such as Bear Lake in Utah and Idaho for fishing, but also in Little Bear River -- Will be very convenient and fun. Working on software engineering while on the water, perhaps, very relaxing. Need a good little stainless steel anchor.

The commenter meant the 10" is the waterline from the bottom of the CT floor. That means when it is floating the water only comes up that far "if" the whole CT floor pan is sealed. For wading depth you need to add the 16" of ground clearance as well, so around 26" before the CT floats away.

But in water fording traction is in gradual decline, as vehicle bouyancy already starts as soon as the underbody hits the water and gradually increases until the tyres stop touching the ground.

I have no doubt EM means what he says: it will float like a boat.

Yes, I've learned this, as illustrated above.

Real rudder would definitely be better but 4WS as rudder would definitely be better than nothing.

4WS as rudder and steerable outboard motor or water jet might be effective at steering Cybertruck in water.

Will you be using your Cybertruck's boat-like features, and in what way??

Just tweeted this morning by Elon Musk.

"Cybertruck will be waterproof enough to serve briefly as a boat, so it can cross rivers, lakes & even seas that aren’t too choppy"

We may need to since global warming will raise the sea levels by about 10 feet be the time this is actually released:(

Dude SpaceX cold thrusters is number 9 on my list, right after amphibious. Just be a little patient!

Raptor is just plain ridiculous though....lol
CT would fold up in on itself into a stainless pancake with 200tons of thrust on its tailgate. Would be fun to watch though! 🤣

You do know that beverage holders are not meant to replace actual cups and hold your drinks, right? Besides it seems awfully inconvenient to lap it out of the middle console like a puppy dog. 🤣😜

Have you tried a rally wave whilst fording? Its where you push up a wave first and then follow it in the trough. They can be fun.
