I've gotten so used to the current steering wheel that driving a vehicle with a circle steering wheel feels really weird and bulky now... can't go back to circle.

At first I hated the squircle... But once I learned to drive the truck I realized how genius it was. Without the 4 wheel steer by wire, I'd be 100% on board for a round wheel. As it is, with <180° range of motion, I now much prefer the squircle.

Here's why: when I want to straighten out the front wheels, I can do it much faster with the wheel being square because I know exactly where the wheel is in it's rotation at all times. Then I want to make a full turn, the muscle memory is instantly there and I know exactly where my hands need to be without lifting either of them--while this is still true on a round wheel, I'd really struggle with not moving my hands on a traditional wheel. My experience with the squircle AND steer by wire combined has made me a more effective and safer driver.

Agreed. Squircle plus regular steering would suck. But it just works with steer by wire and 4 wheel steer. Feels natural

bad render. might as well photoshop in a gearshift lever, turn signal lever, drivers dash, headlight stalk, etc. … or just buy an ICE truck. Or a Rivian. Or a F150 Lightning. Buttons raining down from the heavens!

I would like a Plaid wheel if it is any choice. The top of wheel on truck is useless. We have fly by wire, why not real your. US pilots can handle it. ?

The top of a yoke is useless too, except as providing a visual reference. That's by design. The squircle is the same, although it's a little easier to deal with if you accidently try to use the top.

I personally think that person should be hanged from the neck until dead, but to each their own. Tesla isn’t Ferrari, they won’t sue you for completely moronic decisions such as this one.
