Thanks Randy. First I’ve heard the real story. How did you get invited and first row. Did you get the test drive afterwards too?

Like I said, If the windows didn’t break, it would have never had all the media coverage and free publicity. Elon knows how to work the Audience and the 1.8 million reservation holders.

Since Tesla doesn’t really have paid commercial tv ads, Elon found a way around it and all it cost was 2 pieces of glass. The person who thought of the PR stunt should be rewarded with a CT.
The people who invested in Tesla are already being rewarded with a “Free Tesla”
The question is what model. A 3 , Plaid , CT, Roadster or possibly a semi truck to haul away all the cyber money.

Rick
For all those who both expect higher prices and complain, who also bought Tesla stock to hopefully defray some of the cost; sell the absolute MINIMUM amount of shares required to make your monthly payment.

If you think that your CT might cost $100K after spec'ing all the goodies you want plus FSD, AND you sell enough stock to pay cash, so no monthly payment, Kathie Wood is projecting your CT will cost approximately $750,000 dollars in 2027, more later if the stock price continues to rise. (2000/260=7.69 for those curious).
If the stock eventually goes to $10K per share, your CT will have cost you $3,750,000.
That is supercar pricing and it might be possible to justify it, but why would you?
Please be careful about tossing away future value. Enjoy your CT.
As a complete aside, my estimated delivery date is 4/20/2024. Hah!

Very cool. The question is why are they wrapping it?
Maybe this is some thing Tesla will offer after all?
There was a rumor/report like 2 years ago that Tesla would offer a factory wrap with different options from 3M.

You're correct, I sold off enough shares roughy 3 years ago to basically keep the shares I still own for nothing. Sure fast forward, the stock did a 5/1 split followed by a 2/1 split. But hasn't really recovered from the pre 2/1 split price.

In reality, the stock is held In my sep/ Ira account and not a personal bank account or Roth, tax free retirement account. So yes, I'll have to pay from non retirement money or pay a whole lot of income tax money if I pay with Elons money.

I also bought into Lordstown and Fisker, so not everything is a winner. Just make sure you invest with money you can afford to loose. Not money you need to live off of. Especially if you're approaching your golden years.

I'm not going to wrap mine, but what I am thinking about doing is masking off the truck with stripes of vinyl, and then semi-polish the areas that are exposed. Then I'm going to peel off the masking and then mask it again with stripes, but with a different pattern, laying across each other like Eddie Van Halen's black/white/red guitar. After the 2nd masking, I'm going to lightly scuff the exposed areas and I will end up with us a partner like EVH's guitar, but very subtle and it will basically be three different stainless steel finishes.

Oh, nice! It'll look more like a Black Ice carbon fiber guitar , tho, but that's still super-cool looking. My spouse has a Hello Kitty Squire done with the arrangement of pickups like Van Halen's first striped guitar, as well. Sounds dang nice.

I think Tesla would be missing out a steady revenue stream by not offering factory installed wraps. The CT is going to be the most wrapped vehicle in history due to every CT looking exactly alike.

Customers could upload their own design or pick from Tesla’s choice of wraps.

I don’t see a factory wrap option being offered initially but I do see Tesla adding this option down the road after Cybertruck production is on autopilot.

The whole idea of the SS finish is to avoid applying coatings. The benefit is a streamlined manufacturing process. Adding a wrap should be easier than paint but would require a whole additional line of prep and application. This will be a soft coating on a hard resiliant surface. I get the idea of wanting to personalize your truck, but I think complicating the manufacturing is not in the process EM has been touting of "the best part, is no part"
