OK. So I just cleaned them real deep. I can’t emphasize enough how many times I’ve went over cleaning only one wheel. The result.. well yeah like all of us who used this cover it has deep scratches. Some even eat up clear coat. The damage is done. I like the way it looks with the covers on so I think I’ll keep it. In case tesla accepts to fix them in their expense, I will never put them back on. Thanks all for your feedback. Greatly appreciated.

You can only use the covers if you are using them permanently, they scratch the rims.
When I had the same issue after less than 500 miles service center simply said if you don't want them scratched don't use the wheel covers.

I have requested an appointment from SC and read sometime ago in another post that they were reconditioning wheels damaged by wheel covers and sent the pictures to them hoping I would get the same treatment. Little I know, they have sent me this estimate of $3587,96.
WHAT?
Does anyone had recent experience like this I wonder?

I had my wheels replaced under warranty 2 weeks ago after I complained through the app. My argument was that the covers were to protect the wheels and also increase efficiency. Thus, removing the covers should mean I have pristine wheels underneath. They replaced all 4 wheels under warranty and the SC manager handed me the covers and said if I put them back on, future wheel damage is not covered.

Any idea how much the covers increase range/efficiency? I bought the hub covers but never put them on, preferring range over looks. I assume I have scratches under there....

I did some digging before and got some people saying as little as a 2% percent decrease in range and others saying up to 14%. However, I think 5% is more accurate and that would be at highway speeds up to 80-85 miles per hour. I drive 20 miles each way to and from work and don't notice any difference. If i do put the covers on, it will only be for a really long road trip.

Just leave the covers on. The wheels are absolute pieces of sh*t. They are made of a cast aluminum and they crack easily… simply from a rock shooting up from the pavement. If you care about the wheels and how they look… buy a new set of after market wheels that look good and are made of high grade material that can withstand road abuse. That is a much better investment than these lipstick on a pig wheels.

I have no idea where you got that from but a nice set of KMC wheels have always fetched more money aftermarket. Maybe on the CT because people may want the aero covers. But for every other truck and Jeep I have owned, aftermarket wheels have always increased the value on resale.

All aftermarket parts including wheel "upgrades" are a deduction item for trade-ins, no exceptions. You may find an unknowledgeable buyer who doesn't know better, but any non-OEM mods reduce value. Tesla reduces value on CT's by $2k for wrapping. When you take a Tesla or any car with aftermarket wheels to CarMax, they deduct the cost of replacing the aftermarket wheels with OEM.

Yeah… private sale it’s worth more. Don’t ask me how I know.

My CT was delivered with under inflated tires. 46-47 all around. I took off the wheel covers off on day one to fill air to 50 psi. My wheels were already scratched. And the valve stem design is ridiculous. Why do I need to remove the cover to fill air in the tires? Removing and reinstalling the cover leads to more scratches….
