Toyotas are engineered like something you could buy in the 90s. And they cheap out on basic materials like steel or at a minimum fail to do proper QC. See all of the lawsuits over frame rusting that they have dealt with in the last 20 years. If your quality reference is simply making something that is reliable you’re not discerning functional differences. Companies that make new stuff will have problems. That’s the reality. Toyota is a conservative company. Many of us aren’t going to sit around waiting for them to “innovate”.
Exactly. They don't innovate for a years, but when they finally do because they have to, problems. Look at the refreshed Tundra and Tacoma.

People shit on the Tesla but they innovate constantly. Yeah, the Toyota's are reliable before the refreshed, but the previous gen 4runners, Tundras were terrible, slow, bad mpg.

I had my windshield replaced a couple weeks ago, and the new seal looked crushed on the passenger side when they finished. I asked them to fix it, and they said they'd need to replace the windshield again as the seal was attached at the factory.

After 30 seconds of awkward silence, they said, 'Ok, we'll order a new one' and I'm taking it back in this week.

Either service isn't aware of the seal replacement procedure, or there's a reason they just do the whole shebang. Weird.
was yours replaced for damage - or for wind noise on the seals?

Interesting.
The Tesla rep on the app, immediately said they have to inspect seals to see if they replace the windshield.

They may not know. I did my own research as I’m also dealing with a crushed seal after the windshield replacement. I’d rather they try to seal route if possible and not replace the windshield again. The good news is they didn’t destroy my interior while changing the windshield.

Damage - had a tree branch land on top during a windstorm.

I hope that I can just get the seal procedure done. But when I submitted my ticket last week, the Tesla rep immediately said, will need to inspect to see if windshield needs replacement. So I’m not sure if they’re doing the seal procedure anymore.

They did the seal procedure on mine last week (WA state). It helped a little, but not much. I think they need larger seals so there is more rubber to bunch up against the side trim. While there, I looked at three other CTs and they all looked like crap. Service said engineering needs to come up with a solution. ?

Going in next week to see if they’re going to do new seal procedure to replace or whole windshield. We will see and I’ll let everyone know

Same here, on both sides, near the bottom part of the windshield. So I took it in to the CS and was told that these seals comes with the windshield and may require replacing the entire windshield (after I spent $500 to have the windshield tinted?

Same issue here, tinted the top strip. Though sucks, I want the seals to be proper… I’ll have to eat that one I’m sure :/

Have mine in for service now and they haven’t said anything about it yet, but I’m worried they’re going to make things worse.

Anyone with positive stories

UPDATE: on 2/3/25 - service tech said those gaps in there are “within spec” and all normal. Wouldn’t even touch them…

I complained about wind noise as well, for what it’s worth.
