In the end I think it is a good thing that automation can relieve the most dangerousness and drudgery of work.

The danger to our society is, then how do people make a living? How do we share the wealth created by a system that no longer needs human labor.
.....
The problem is the wealth and power is so skewed to the 1% that they have the power (control of the state and security forces) and wealth ( 1% has more wealth than 80% of the rest). They are not interested in sharing and will kill most everyone else or let us die (disease, starve, thirst, and/or climate change) than share. The weakening of democracy is not an accident.

There will always be some jobs but if AI can do stock trades and do the critical thinking needed, there will be no job that cannot be automated.

This concerns me too… but right now there is a huge shortage of labor and our aging population is only making this worse. At the same time, the better jobs seem to be becoming more scarce or turning into contract jobs with few or no benefits.

It’s a weird situation.

UBI Maybe. Maybe for a while.

Maybe some little guys will be taxed but NO WAY will the big players pay an effective tax.

The big players control the system.

The way it will probably work out is the governments will print money until the whole system implodes.

It does not really matter if the government goes the UBI/print money (hyper inflation) route or government goes the UBI/unsuccessfully try to tax/print money (hyper inflation) route.
Because the 1% will not allow their power over the system be compromised or will they share the wealth. Implosion of the economic system is inevitable either path the governments are ALLOWED to pursue. The truly workable path will not be allowed by those in control. It is like the 1960s "THE OUTER LIMITS" intro says "WE CONTROL".

Remember one of the key drivers of how western civilization got rid of the feudal system was because of labor shortage caused by the huge number of deaths (one-half of the total European population including much of wealthy ruling class) from the Black Plague.

After hundreds of years we can not even guarantee to women the rights to their own bodies, level playing field (economics & justice system) to women & racial minority groups, everyone (I mean everyone) getting a real fair vote counted in a fair representative democracy ( NO gerrymanders, NO electoral college, NO Idaho, ND, SD, RI, NH, VT, NM, NV, AZ each get 2 senators while all of New York state's 20 million or California's 40 million get only 2 senators).

Effectively Taxing the 1% ? LOLROTFL (Laughing Out Loud Rolling on the Floor Laughing)

remember that the next time you vote, because yes the govt needs to take back control from special interests and companies, for the good of its citizens. that'll filter out a lot of corrupt politicians.

Sadly other than social issues both parties are aligned to keep the status quo. Making sure the $$ come rolling in. I vote Demarcate because I can not align with the Trump party. Conservatives are gone and there are not enough progressives.
