I got tired of my overhead gear selector falling off. I drilled holes through the front of the assembly that lined up with a support on the inside and attached the gear selector using 2 over head screws.

In the picture you can also see that I removed the mirror and attached a Uniden R7 radar detector using an inexpensive stick on bracket that I got from the jungle site.

Shay, I too have had the same issue. Every time I move either sunscreens the gear selector comes unhinged! I have a service appointment coming up and it is one of the issues I have asked them to resolve. Curious to see their approach as to how to best fix this issue.

I had the same issue and the service center replaced the entire assembly. I like the added screws modification. Nice job Shay!

I'm not sure if this is related, but I recently opened a service request to get the missing slat added to my tonneau and the cantrail replacement, and service automatically added a couple of line items regarding the overhead console.

I've never had a problem with it, but I'm guessing it means there is an official revision to it:

Looking at the linked invoice gives more details:

Just made today a service appointment for this. Never had this issue until after my previous service where they replaced the front facing camera. I threw in a tire rotation since am at 12K miles anyway.
Service scheduled for July 30.

Thanks for posting this. Do you know which problems are being addressed with the front overhead unit and the camera fan?

Not sure if it applies to all / most of us. I had them check out my interior camera overhead box as it feels loose but they said it was as expected. This was last year early August (got my truck mid July).

BTW. When I got the slat added, they found another issue and did more work:

“Technician inspected the vehicle and confirmed missing slats on the tonneau cover,
causing water ingress and visible gaps. The issue was due to misaligned bed side appliques.
Technician replaced the right and left bed side appliques and adjusted the exterior trim to ensure proper alignment. After adjustments, the tonneau cover closed properly and no water ingress was observed during testing.”

I still get a lot of water ingress, so I’ll have to go again. I think it’s from the aero piece, apparently the water seal is the issue, not sure if they have an official fix yet.

What size screws and what size bit did you use.

I used a black short #8 oval head screw. I would prefer a smaller screw but this was the only black screws I had. The size of the drill will depend on the size of the screw. Stainless screws are easy to get at Lowe's and will look fine. A pan head screw will be easier to use and will work fine. The plastic tab that I screwed into is thin so don't over tighten.
