So you're saying Elon should be an idiot instead of a scumbag and stop selling (and charging for) the FS?
I'm saying a limited series should be limited; and not milked for an unknown amount of time. I've already watched hundreds of celebrities jump ahead of us in line, so it's time to put the FS to a close and open it up to us peons.

Slow ramp, you say?

Cybertruck is already at a production rate of over 1K per week. This is after only a few months of ramping.

Suffice it to say, if you were to place a reservation today, you are unlikely to get one until 2027 at the earliest. The backlog is huge and so many 3/Y owners are willing to do a "stretch" to get their hands on the Cybertruck.

The best part about the Cybertruck is that it doesn't drive like a truck. This is a huge deal for so many buyers who want a larger vehicle but still want it to drive like how Teslas do: fun and easy to drive.
The ramp up has indeed been slow, and understandably so because its a brand new product with a lot of new and unproven tech on board. I just want them to be clear on a path forward. They have been mostly silent on every aspect of this launch, and have left us guessing on when the program will end for far too long.

Is it 3 million now?
Not sure! I don’t think Tesla has released official numbers. Based on folks who are tracking things online, they said orders surpassed 2 million last year and speculated 3 million. It could be 2 million as well. I hope it’s not 4 million, lol.

I hope Tesla was more transparent about the reservation numbers, FS timelines, conversations, etc. I guess they are keeping this a secret to have a competitive advantage? ?‍♂. These uncertainties are killing me for sure.

We know Foundation Series will continue until at least "late 2024." It seems almost impossible to me that Tesla will accept non-FS orders when there are still FS orders undelivered. The amount of people that will walk away from FS orders would be too substantial for this to make any sense...

...unless of course the non-FS are stripped of enough features to keep FS order holders from jumping. If non-FS is the same truck without a badge, nearly everyone will walk. If $20k worth of stuff is stripped, like worse seats, tires, etc., then it makes more sense to start taking orders before all FS are delivered.

was wondering if any FS owners kinda wished they'd waited, can't believe all are happy with knowing i've got my order email all ready to go after the announcement for 20 less. not too exclusive of a club, imo.
I'm so glad I didn't wait, $20K is nothing (to me) compared to the pleasure I've already had putting Cybertruck through its paces.

If I were budget constrained, I would wait for the non-Foundation Series savings, but I would still get FSD, and a couple of the included accessories, so it would only be a savings of less than $12K.

Tesla called my number several weeks ago and I passed. I'm sure well off folks are less concerned, but I cannot afford the $30k overnight depreciation that will occur the day foundation series ends. I also just don't think the truck is worth anywhere near six figures, with pieces coming off, no autopilot, scratched and different colored body panels, and a typical Model 3/Y interior. I can get an insanely swank Rivian for like 600 bucks a month right now. I actually ordered a M3P instead but (shocker) it's now looking like Tesla lied about the delivery window and it's delayed.
I can tell you haven't driven the Cybertruck yet.

And Tesla didn't "lie" about your estimated delivery timeframe, it was always an estimate. That they didn't hit it doesn't make it a lie!

100% this.

Let's say just 2M reservations. I think the conversion rate is more like 25%, which means 500K Cybertrucks.

A couple of scenarios:
1) If production is capped at 125K per year, that means a 4-year wait.
2) If production is increased to 250K per year, that is a 2-year wait.

I think if you were to place a reservation today, you would be waiting until 2027 at the earliest. HaulingAss, any comments?
I think an order placed today would see a late 2025 delivery. The backlog will remain, but it's a rolling backlog. New orders will prevent the purchasing of a Cybertruck within at least a month of order time until at least 2027, perhaps longer.

That said, much of this depends upon two factors out of our control:

1) General consumer sentiment
2) How Tesla manages the retail price of the Cybertruck.

Yeah that sure is a patronizing response that addresses none of my critiques. Apparently driving the truck would somehow make me forget Tesla is baking a nicely optioned Honda Civic's worth of depreciation into my vehicle. People act like this is some kind of new form of transport. It's a Tesla. I've owned several and they are all more similar than they are different.

If you want to be a shill for Tesla regarding their modern delivery "estimates" then by all means. Funny how it's "April / May" to get you to pay the non-refundable order fee. A week later it's "May / June". Then "June / July". Who knows when it'll show up. Lots of people who ordered their M3LRs in January still haven't received them. Why provide information at all if it's meaningless? Oh right, because they can.

I don’t think the comment was meant to be patronizing. It is not like any other Tesla. It is not like any other car. The driving experience is not comparable to anything else on the road.

Delivery times all clearly say estimated. If you own a Tesla you already know that probably means later rather than sooner.

Folks, today I received my Willy Wonka Golden email ticket to design my FS CT. Admittedly I am perplexed by my desire to continue patiently waiting VS throwing caution to the wind.....

I AM A RESIDENT OF MINNESOTA. My RN =11310XXXX.
Admittedly I hadn't attended my regular prayer sessions in this group, so I am out of the latest loop on all things CT. Would like to get some fresh feedback..

Tesla is definitely price gouging by not reducing the FSD value by $4k.
"Price gouging" is fake, if you believe in the free market. People are free to purchase whatever they want with their own money. If demand is high and consequently price is high, how is that "price gouging"? And even if you can justify using that fake term, how can it even remotely apply to a $90k+ vehicle? Unbelievable.

I definitely do not regret my purchase. I love the truck. I can't see me switching to another vehicle for quite a long time. Someone else would need to develop a car that handles like the CT for me to even consider a switch. I expect that to take 5+ years at minimum. At that it will probably still look like a standard vehicle. I bet many of the resales are from people who purchased to make a buck, but may not be able to afford to hold the truck. Similar dynamic as has occurred over the past couple years in the watch market. Most who can afford the truck and drive it I suspect will have a hard time parting with it.
