The tragedy will be the removal of Alcantara. Soft and warm to the touch. Will be gone and peasant fabric will replace it.

I hear the Alcantara weasel is endangered now. You all will miss it.

The specs were released in November when the FS specs were released.
Look at what the FS add-ons are. Take those away and you have the non-FS specs.

The RWD specs aren't known yet, but the AWD and Beast definitely are.
I agree. Folks are so intent on making the non-FS different, including pricing when there’s no reason for Tesla to do so yet. Maybe be for a RWD model n a few years.

I haven’t seen anybody intentionally willing to pay more or letting go of any of the features. Why would someone do that? If it’s so apparent that non FS will be everything minus 20K add on, then why is that information not put out officially? I have a hard time believing that making that statement officially will drastically lower FS sales. If it’s anyway so obvious, then it shouldn’t matter right? Just end all rumors and say what it is. We are at the end of FS list anyways!

IT IS!

They just don't state that the non-FS is the FS minus these items. The state that the non-FS plus these items are the FS!

If A+B=C, then C-B=A

Tesla makes the assumption that people can do simple math, but it seems as if the "what does assume mean" saying is correct.

So many people would rather come up with a conspiracy theory than listen to simple facts.

Are you saying none of us (Tesla reps and reservation holders) are unable to do kindergarten arithmetic? 😆🤦‍♂️

I wouldn't want to tell my customers either, would rather they pay up for Foundation Series than wait for the better deal!
This is the only plausible explanation I can think of. Probably they just want to focus completely on FS sales and don’t want to say or talk about non FS to influence FS sales. This strategy just makes the wait harder for reservation holders, especially for early reservation holders as they don’t have much wait time for non foundation series!

I’m in the same boat- not-so-patiently waiting with a day 5 reservation. I test drove the CT today and getting back in my ‘23 MX afterwards, it definitely felt inferior despite being a pretty amazing car imo. The CT is on a whole other level.

That being said, your post kind of answered itself. The non-FS is going to be significantly cheaper (which has already been explicitly stated by Tesla) and will instantly kill any demand for the FS. I suppose people who go to the website now for the first time wont see any mention of lower prices and will happily pull the trigger after a test drive, at least thats what Tesla sales staff is hoping!

btw, the sales rep told me its a year wait for non-fs. Definitely a canned answer. Theres no way they have a year more of demand for fs. I would estimate between 2 weeks and 2 months before initial non fs order invitations. The $100k price is just too high for the mass market, regardless of how awesome the truck is.
He probably means that it will take a year to get to your order if you place it now because they have a year worth of people ahead of you in the queue.

I sure hope I get my FS Beast with Alcantara soon to add to my Thneed collection.

The other possible explanation is simply "They don't know yet" They need to make it profitable - I suspect the delay of the dry-cathode made the problem harder. Probably expected that cost savings before ending the FS premium. Now they are trying to figure out what to cut (besides the obvious FS adders) to ensure they are not taking a loss on every sale.

Hmm.. makes sense. Battery tech is a good point that I didn’t think about. Your point also proves that the math is not as simple as A + B = C. There are a lot more variables in the equation that Tesla is still trying to figure out and see which features to trade off that are not part of $20K add on. I hope everything stays as-is. Let’s see!

Thanks for sharing more details. I definitely need the ventilated seats. This is why I’m hoping to see the non foundation specs before letting go of FS while we are at the last leg of the transition. Ventilated seats and premium audio are not part of $20K FS add on.
I love my 12v $100 Amazon ventilated seat cover. Almost 4 years old and still running strong. Haha
One of the Best purchases I’ve ever made.

I was in the "CT won't change when the FS ends" camp as well. I think at the still high cost the non-FS will be at launch, there won't be changes. Tesla still needs to win over the masses with a top tier product with no advertising... but I think a year from now, there will be changes.

The Model X and Model S are hardly moving the Tesla sales needle. I keep waiting to hear about the refreshed Model S, to make it separate from the Model 3. The refreshed M3P is better than the Model S in many cases and it is cheaper. Maybe Tesla painted themselves into a corner and there is no Model S refresh coming?

It looks more like Tesla wants 3 platforms, and then scaled trims in each platform. A CT that looks like this new Model 3 is on the way, I'm sure of it. Will this be RWD only? Will there be a AWD Standard and AWD Premium?

This isn't what Tesla used to do, but maybe this wasn't "the Tesla way" and it had more to do with having limited production lines. If you have more factories and more lines, each one can be setup as it's own thing and still achieve the Tesla efficiencies they are known for.

I would think the differences will be Non FS will not come with FSD, it will have all season rims and tires, gray interior, no FS badging, no wall connector, none of the included FS accessories, possibly no floor mats

FSD up charge price
Off road rims and tires up charge price
Interior white color up charge price
Wall Connector up charge
Any accessories you want for up charge price

Also they do not want to scare away potential FS buyers

And even though it is not listed as part of FS price there is a price increase for early non patient adopters
I think your answer to the question is the best i have seen. Tesla has said they are not making any money on the CT yet. They are not going to cut their own throat by reducing the price for the same CT as the FS. I you are waiting for NF might as well buy the FS. Your payments will change a little and you will get the stuff you will buy at some point anyway. Now Tesla is saying 4th quarter or first quarter of 25. Buy once. Cry once.

Except Elon undid that by publicly stating non-FS would be available in Q3.
