BREAKING: @Tesla has revealed that once Cybertruck production is ramped up that Giga Texas will have over 60,000 employees. They have 20,000 employees on site currently, according to a public presentation by Jason Shawhan, Tesla's director of manufacturing at Giga Texas.

At the end of 2022 Tesla had 12,300 employees at Giga Texas. Coming into 2023, Shawhan said Tesla didn't have enough parking for workers. To fix the issue, the company is now building a parking garage near the factory.

Tesla has become one of the largest employers in Central Texas, ranking only behind grocery chain H-E-B LP, which earlier this year employed 22,955 people in the metro, according to ABJ list research.

H‑E‑B started in the Texas hill country over a century ago. So for Tesla to be growing a work force to surpass H-E-B as the largest employer in Central Texas, in only a few years time - that's quite impressive.

Once the electric-vehicle company ramps up production on its highly anticipated Cybertruck, that number is expected to triple. That's according to Jason Shawhan, Tesla's director of manufacturing at the factory,

.
Shawhan took over manufacturing for Giga Texas, as the Austin facility is called, in April 2021 after a lengthy stint at Ford Motor Co.

...

now has more than 20,000 employees onsite daily, with workers coming from the far reaches of the metro. Tesla officials previously said Giga Texas had grown to 12,277 employees by the end of 2022, outpacing Musk's earlier estimates.
"We essentially brought in a ton and ton of people," Shawhan said, adding the company didn't have enough parking for workers. To fix the issue, the company is now building a parking garage near the factory.
Roughly 3,000 workers hail from Austin, and more than 1,000 are from Killeen, with a daily shuttle running from the factory to the Bell County city that's home to Fort Cavazos. Pflugerville, Round Rock, Manor, San Antonio, Bastrop and Kyle are also home to hundreds of Tesla employees, with other workers coming from all over Central Texas and even as far as Houston, according to the presentation.

.....

Shawhan said production will begin soon on the futuristic Cybertruck.
But Tesla doesn't just make cars. It also builds driving units, battery packs and its own 4680 cells for its batteries, he said. Tesla also makes its own castings and its factory includes plastic injection molding, stamping press lines, general assembly, a body shop and paint shop as part of the company's goal to become more vertically integrated.

....

he company is also installing a melt center so it can reuse casting scraps, and it plans to do the same with old wheels that can become the front underbody of the car, Shawhan said. The company's also looking into how to reuse minerals from battery packs,

....

Tesla has also filed plans to build a "Project Cathode" facility next to the main factory.

As it is, employees bring bicycles and electric scooters to work … to get from their cars to the building

Could use the Boring Company tool to build an underground tram/train for pedestrian service connection to all the facilities/parking areas at the site.
