New CT owner for a few days now. I love it, but have quickly realized that there seem to be body issues with many of them. I am not anal, rarely ever wash my cars, (plan to with the CT), and can live with a few imperfections. That said, when I picked up the truck, there are 2 obvious dents in the bed cover. It looks like someone tapped it with a ball-peen hammer. The photos make the damage appear worse than in person. When I got home I took a few photos of some panel inconsistencies and scheduled an appointment with the SC. At first they told me it would be 3 hours to fix the bed cover and then with the added panel work, mostly the front right quarter panel that sticks up maybe 1/8'-1/4" above the frunk. Then they changed it to giving me a loner.

After reading many horror stories online, and awful review after awful review of the San Diego service center where I am scheduled, I am completely torn on what to do. I can live with it all, more so the panels than the dents. The dents irritate me because it's obvious damage that in no way went unnoticed. But, it is a truck and trucks, and all cars for that matter don't stay perfect for long. It's just the most $$ I have ever spent on a vehicle (coming from a 2010 minivan, by the way). I'd really hate to have it come back worse. When I ask my coworkers, family, and friends, I get about a 60/40 split with the 60 saying to just leave it. I can mentally convince myself that since it was an inventory vehicle (not 100% sure exactly what that refers to) that I got 1 yr of charging and premium connectivity with it. If you asked me if I would accept this truck with it's current issues for the 1 year of charging, I would take the truck.

So, next week, take it in for the repairs? Have them only fix the bed cover? Or move on and enjoy my CT, which is the most enjoyable vehicle I have owned.

The slats should be replaced by them for sure. I’m guessing they will tell you the panel is within normal limits but you should raise a
stink about that and ask to speak with the service manager. It’s not normal.

Thanks guys, the panels I can live with, maybe I'll just ask to have the slats replaced and leave the panels. My main concern is that it comes back with damage elsewhere on the truck like so many stories I have read. I will definitely take a lot of photos before but it's just not a rabbit hole I want to go down trying to get them to fix damage they created, if it does happen.

Here are 3 photos of it this morning with dew on it before I wiped it down:

Since everyone is talking about slats here, how do you know if you are missing a slat? I'll assume that since I've had my truck for 21 days under 1 year (LOL) that I'm not missing any slats. I'm just curious how you can tell. If it's obvious, I'd think Tesla would have noticed before the truck made it down the line. And how in the heck does that even happen?
"Bob, what should I do with these extra slats?"
"Give them to me, Steve, I'm making a garage door."

Really easy to tell if you're missing a slat. With the tonneau closed, if you don't see a gap and row of holes at the top then you aren't missing a slat.

I took my truck in to the SC on Kearny Mesa Rd for the initial 100 mile visual repairs when I first got it. I had a great experience with Sean. He took care of me the moment I arrived. He walked through all the issues I had, even the smallest. Put tape to ensure the techs knew what to look out for. Put me on a loaner and was in constant contact throughout the whole process. I recommend you go there! An added plus is there's a 325kW supercharger right next door!

That’s good to hear. I think I’m going to go through with it. The customer service through the app scheduling and messaging is really good. They answer all my questions within minutes.
I was going to cancel until I confirmed I’m missing a slat as well, so I’m going to bite the bullet. May have them just ignore the body panels.

If you see these holes, you're missing a slat.

Definitely take it in. While there are service center horror stories, there are also plenty of stellar service results. On a new truck, I'd get everything in front of them as soon as possible.

Find the Cybertruck Service Manual online, then search for 'tonneau rework' (or something like that). It shows you the picture of it 'missing' the slat, and the steps with what the SC will do to add it.

Agree with others, take it to the SC to get the dented slats replaced. As for the panels, it's up to you but know that it could end up being fixed or worse. Regarding your frunk / passenger side quarter panel, it looks like it could the the frunk alignment and not the actual quarter panel?

As for the 3 hours to replace the slats, I totally believe that...if you find the 'tonneau rework' section in the CT Service Manual, you'll see it's quite a process to remove the tonneau in order to add (or in your case replace) a slat.

I agree on the Frunk, I think it’s the issue although minor. The rep through the app said it will take a full day to do the tonneau. I did check the manual and it is quite the project.

I had my tonneau slat added last week, along with my cantrail replacement and a few other things. They had originally estimated 4 days, but got all of it done in 1 day.
