High voltage battery replacement needed

I was on my way to the gym about a week ago and my cybertruck shut down. Tesla towed it to their facility and told me that the high voltage battery needs to be replaced so they ordered one. Tesla is now telling me after a couple date changes that the battery won’t arrive until sometime in July! Also, they said that the battery pack will be refurbished and the cells will be new. Anyone else experiencing this?

What year truck and how many miles?
I would push for a new pack assuming you bought the truck new the pack should be as good as the pack you bought, not to mention the loss of vehicle for a month.

From what I have heard all Tesla replacement battery packs are refurbished.

Yea, that new and low mileage, I would be pushing for it to be replaced with the best.

I would escalate for new battery replacement given such low mileage. Refurbished is not equivalent to new.

I once read somewhere they replace battery’s on warranty, with slightly used once’s to match your current state. Example if you have 100k miles on it they will replace it with one that is equally used. Unsure how they measure it miles or battery cycles , maybe health.

But I’m with the crowd to replace it with a new pack. If the day comes when I have to buy a battery, it dang well better be new.

Sounds like new case and cells with less than new ancillary components. Pyro fuses, PCS, DCA, busbars, harnesses ...

You are owed an equivalent replacement under warranty, not a completely new part though.

When the legacy motor fails under warranty you get a crate motor replacement, rebuilt
Used

The rebuilt pack with new cells is even better
The guts, cells are new

They are giving you a good option
Most likely the new cells

Check your state lemon law criteria. You might have a claim if this goes on for 30 days or more.

If the replacement pack is truly refurbished - as I would expect in this scenario - I would be very surprised if the cells themselves are actually new.

Local service people often have incorrect information.

HV batt replacement has be refurb units since early model 3's. Coworker had a model 3 hv batt need replacement at 12k miles, ok, but the battery warranty does not zero out with pack replacement. His hv bat warranty was not extended. Not surprised to see same coverage on Cybertruck.

I concur. I have not seen data nor heard stories about CT refurbs but have heard many bad for MX/MS.
