Since gold is the best reflector of infrared. Think I could change from polished SS to gold film coating. Wife is asian and loves gold. Maybe she will lighten up on me about the 76g purchase.
My wife is also asian, Vietnamese. She also loves gold.. GOLD CYBERTRUCKS HERE WE COME!

you can always have ceramic tint with 90+ % heat reduction applied. even clear or very light coloring to block more UV and heat from interior. the glass will block many windshield mounted radar detectors
I have a Toyota factory tint sunroof. I added ceramicUV 90%. It remains too intense on my skin in Santa Fe NM @ 7000 elev. SO the cover remains pulled over the glass which blocks 99%.

Were it an Option, I would sunroof DELETE on my CT order due to:
1) water leak
2) maintenance
3) moving parts show dirt
4) I don't open a sunroof -never-
5) roof rack interference

I wonder if their claims that is blocks heat is true. It probably does block the UV so your DNA is not affected. But the infrared my not be reflected and you are getting solar cooked...

You seem to be under some misapprehension about greenhouse effect. Glass passes visible wavelengths fairly well. These enter the car and heat the interior seats, floors etc. Those reradiate the heat at longer (non visible) wavelengths which is reflected by glass. The heat is thus trapped and the temperature inside the greenhouse (car) goes up.

Glass inherently protects against UV as it does not transmit it well. That's why you have to pay the big bucks for (as an example) quartz cuvets if you are using a spectrophotometer below the visible range (360 nm).

Maybe I'm missing something. I've heard of a few leaky sunroofs from the 70's, but never on cars from the past couple decades. And I'm supposed to maintain my sunroof?

Were it an Option, I would sunroof DELETE on my CT order due to:
1) water leak - unlikely as it covers the whole roof
2) maintenance - no more maintenance than your windshield requires... Less, actually because there are no wipers on the roof.
3) moving parts show dirt - There are no moving parts on the roof
4) I don't open a sunroof -never- The Cybertruck will be no different. Its roof doesn't open
5) roof rack interference - Um... it's a panel of glass that is a roof. It won't interfere.
You've seen the Cybertruck, Right?

Seems like we now have two topics in the same thread.

1. Wrapping the CT in Gold aeronautical film.
2. Coating to reduce the heat through glass windows.

Guess I will take the Gold aeronautical film to the "Cybertruck Wrap ideas? Thread.

And continue to discuss what to do about reducing heat through the windows in this thread.

Needed to back to physics.. I seem to be going in the wrong direction at first. Our skin needs UV protection for the glass but the heat comes from long wave infrared. Found several additives that absorb UV but none that ?absorb? or reflect infrared yet.
Gold is one of the best ir reflectors.wow I should have read the whole thread before responding

Using gold to reflect ir has turned into an interesting rabbit hole.
Gold with a thickness of 4nm can be translucent with a green ting. Used on astronauts helmets.
I already forgot the process used to put the gold on film. Think it is spattering.
Hopefully, with continued research a gold film-film can be found to install on Tesla's bullet proof glass. Found a gold foil for the body. More research needs to be done. Wonder if it will still reflect IR if painted or wrapped over.

www.techflex.com asked for samples to experiment with.

I mean, if you wanted to reflect light, just glue a bunch or mirrors to the truck. CYBER DISCO!

Why would you want to something like this? Glass naturally reflects most IR. That's how the greenhouse effect works. To keep the interior from getting hot you must block all wavelengths and there are much less expensive materials than gold film that will do that. Such as the velcro into place shade that comes with every X.

Please site where you learned your physics and then perhaps we can have a conversation.
