I only use supercharging on trips or emergencies. So far we have done 3 long trips and supercharging cost us about $100 per day. All told about 14 days. If I use 5 years as a timeframe then this would amount to about $7,500 total. If I had unlimited supercharging I’d probably take more trips and I might try towing. I guess I’d value this hypothetical option at $5,000. I am not holding my breath though.

I really wish the free Supercharging benefit only applied to locations >60 - 100 miles from home address.

I drove approx 12k in last 12 months in a ICE truck. at approx 15 mpg/ $3.30 gallon gas that's like $2,500 - $2,900 in fuel. So FSD could easily be valued at $1k year x 5 years for a Cybertruck or X owner and maybe a little less for S, 3 and Y owners.

I think this thread is the exact reason why you will never see standalone unlimited supercharging as an option in the shop. The value of supercharging is so wildly different for people, it's impossible to price.
Yup, it’s just not a product that Tesla will ever sell. It’s used as an incentive to get sales, that’s it.

Probably not. However, Tesla has offered to buy it back, and that provides some idea of its value. See this February 2023 news story:
Tesla offers $5k to eliminate Free Supercharging, but is it enough?

Tesla recently launched a new incentive to its Ownership Loyalty Program that is attempting to woo Model S and Model X owners to trade in vehicles with Free Unlimited Supercharging, but is the $5,000 trade-in boost enough?

“Current Tesla Model S or Model X owners with active unlimited free Supercharging are eligible for an additional $5,000 toward their trade-in value,” Tesla said. “To qualify, owners must trade in their Model S or Model X with unlimited free Supercharging and purchase a new Model S or Model X.”

Tesla offered Free Supercharging for life in the past to incentivize the purchase of its vehicles, but now it wants those vehicles back. While an additional $5,000 may seem like a reasonable incentive, owners may not necessarily agree that it is worth it.

“We’ll be keeping our 2016.5 & 2020 Model Ss with free supercharging for a long time,” one person said.

I met a woman at a Supercharger with a model X and she had over 250,000 miles on a car that was only 4 years old. I asked her how she managed to accumulate that kind of mileage and she told me she had free Supercharging and so instead of flying to places they had previously flown to, they now just drive there instead. She was so attached to the free Supercharging that even if the battery died, she'd replace the battery at significant cost to keep the free lifetime charging. She also said that even with the free charging, she still charged at home 40% of the time to avoid the wasted time to wait at a Supercharger which was about 10 miles from her home.

Most of my driving is within 50 miles of my home, so free Supercharging would not be that beneficial to me. My average charging has been 80/20 home vs Supercharging. All of the Supercharging was when I ventured more than 100 miles from home. If I were to go on a lot of long road trips, the free Supercharging would be quite valuable. But I just don't do that many long road trips to justify it.

I also generate my own energy with solar panels, and that makes it even harder to justify paying a premium for free lifetime Supercharging.

Two things.

1. Most people do 95% of their charging at home, more convenient, cheaper, safer
2. Tesla is almost certainly NOT going to offer it for sale, because the only people that would buy it would be people planning on road tripping or charging it to then go power their house.

I would like to apply my $2500 Credit toward unlimited supercharging, no matter what the cost.
My second best option would be to allow us to use the $2500 credit for supercharging, for as long as it takes to deplete the funds.

How about just low-cost-for-life? I'd like to know that the cost of Supercharging would remain down around the cost of electricity for residential use, perhaps under 10 cents per kWh these days. That would feel good.

That's not a terrible idea. If they sold that as a add-on for $1k or even $2k I'd likely take it. Ensure that it's not free, but always available for the same price you pay at home. You submit a bill to them to show your pricing. Done.

That would totally balance out the people that want to always supercharge because it's free. But this is wishful thinking unless you know how to get this idea to a specific person in power.

I have an AWD nonFS and before owning it, I did a road trip about every 3-4 months of 500 miles or more. Now that I own the CT, I’d like to do road trips every weekend if I could! The only wear and tear is the tires because those induction motors will last 500K+ miles. I suspect Tesla still offers free Supercharging so often because overall, the majority of those with free supercharging don’t overuse it. I think I would. ?

I have 24,600 miles on my CyberBeast, which I have owned for less than a year. My supercharging costs are $931.31. I use a wall connector at home and only use supercharging on trips for military duty and vacations.

I would easily pay $2k for this. Of course, most people aren't in a similar boat and drive their trucks much less than I do.

I would add it on the the range extender price. Bake in an extra couple grand, and offer it with the extender. Not exactly the customer Tesla wants to target, but might be interesting.

When I was able to cash in my lifetime supercharging on my 2018 Model 3 - Tesla valued it at $5000.
