So A BETTER ROUTE PLANNER does not work - that is what you are telling me..The rest is your rationalizations on why EV's are the only way to go. That my friend - is a sad mentallity
not what I said on either account

As for ABRP:

I *said* ABRP data tells you total drive time a refueling stops, which is most accurate and realistic for eg a 3hr drive with a single stop

But for the 40hr drives youā€™re citing, ABRP data is increasingly misleading. Because few to none are driving 20hrs straight, much less stopping only when needing to refuel their diesel.

Further, nobody smart drives a BEV that long for that sort of trip without proper multi-purposing stops. People driving diesels donā€™t tend to multipurpose, instead spending time before and after the road-trip itself.

For one example, someone road-tripping in a diesel to go pheasant hunting might the day before they leave go to Wal-Mart for shells, dog food, and groceries.

Whereas smart BEV travelers make that Wal-Mart stop during the trip , while charging.

That time spent at Wal-Mart is a wash, and effectively removes the relevance of one of the BEV stops.

Again, all I said was that the ABRP data you provided is misleading regarding the real-world travel time delta. And that while the delta still exists, itā€™s not as wide as the gross data suggests.

Only someone who doesnā€™t understand BEV travel would be confused by that. You?

As for ā€œEVs being the only way to goā€:

That *this* is your take-away, says more about your mentality than mine.

OK, Im mentally deficient. I do know, for 30 years our one hotel night driving to N Dakota from Flagstaff seems a much better use of time than the extra days for 2-4 hotel stays your system employs.
So, all-knowing one, is there an EV route planner that works for my trip?

If the rumors are true and the first released models only have 300 is miles of range. First of all I called it. Second there are going to be some disappointed reservation holders.

Most of us won't need 500 miles of range except for 10?? days per year.

I wonder what the environmental payback foot print for something like this would be. Lighter truck 90% of the time, less batteries produced etc.

How much would you pay? If this could be rented even better.
#1 Guaranteed you're WRONG! ;)
#2 I buy what want and IF you need more you have it vs. not. You do you!
#3 Don't care... I bought my 1st and now 2nd Tesla because I wanted a quick, high-tech, low maintenance vehicle I could drive hard daily and not worry about maintenance, repairs or gas. Plus I'm 99% offset (home & charging) on solar...again for the financial benefit not saving the planet. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
#4 $0 because my EV will have the range needed and has since 2018.

So A BETTER ROUTE PLANNER does not work -
Oh, it works, you just have to feed it better info. It's pretty conservative, by default.

Of course, the only pheasant I ever caught was the one that got scared and crashed into the wall of my house. They don't seem particularly hard to find. Why would you need to travel literally a thousand miles to find one?

There are very few pheasants in AZ. Each species has specific habitat requirements and there are huntable populations of pheasants in several northern states. The Dakotas being two of the best.

The poor peasants of the Dakota fiefdoms. What has it come to that the Dakotas allow for peasant hunting?

I expect your biofuel statements are from the lack of exposure to them. In Germany nearly 10% of electricity comes from biofuels, in Denmark 23%, all of Swedens busses run on biomethane and 25% of their grid run on biofuels that, in turn charge their EVs!! I haven't even mentioned Brazil and ethonol or biodiesel use elsewhere.
He said ā€œbio methaneā€!!!

I'm an animal activist. As in I like steak and want to keep enough cows around so I can eat them. So this was my entry to save the cows from the planned mass slaughter to save the planet:šŸ¤£

Although hilarious at first, but most bio-methane plants use cow manure, because of their methane producing bacteria cultures, as the main inoculation for digestion. You also keep it at 37C and mix it over a few weeks for the best results. There's 50million man-made biogas plants on the planet, and my daughter did her Phd on them nearly a decade ago and does work in Africa for their widespread adoption, to avoid cutting down trees for firewood for cooking and reducing biowaste contamination from lack of sewage in third world countries. So free gas energy for fire and lights without toxic smoke inhalation, along with free waste disposal, along with carbon reduction, and a reduction in the drudgery of women collecting timber for hours a day. Win win win. Who said cow farts aren't powerful?

If your question is serious I suggest you take a class on wildlife management and remember where your hamburgers come from.

What is most important is that Tesla gives access to the onboard charger while in motion. We need this for solar charging at the minimum. Also imagine 6 years from now and you can get a slab of high density batteries for $100 is per kWhr. These wouldn't be part of the traction pack but could supplement the hell out of it. Maybe even 48vdc.
