If There Is No Middle Front Seat Option, Might Tesla Offer It Later? Can One Be Added Aftermarket?

Leaving a family member home is not an option.
No, it's an option, just maybe not a desirable option for you. I currently drive a 2 seater. I've exercised the "option" and left family behind at strategic moments in the past! Sometimes it is the best option!

I do get what you're saying.

It appears that the CT will not have a middle front seat or a "jump seat" like the one that was (is still?) an option with some Ford F-150's. I've seen a number of comments here from people who require or really desire a vehicle that seats six people. I wonder if the CT will ever come with a front middle seating position or if an aftermarket product may someday provide one.

There's a video online that shows the F-150 2021 jump seat pretty thoroughly. The seat is actually part of a combination console/seat assembly. The seat function looks very basic, with the upper portion of the console flipping up to serve as the seat back and revealing a seat bottom beneath it. It looks and is described in the video as uncomfortable and more suitable for children and small adults. There is seat belt for the jump seat. I could find no mention of an air bag specifically for the jump seat position, but there may well be airbag coverage for passengers in the front row regardless of where they are seated.

I looked for any US regulation that requires an airbag specifically for the middle front seat position, but could not find one. Current airbag system implementations typically include multiple airbag locations across the dash, in the steering wheel, in the seats, and often in windshield and door pillars. There might even be airbags behind the rear set headrests in some vehicles. The CT could have airbags in any of these locations, including one under or near the centrally-mounted display.

Maybe Tesla will offer a build option for a jump seat sooner or later, If not, do you think there there will be enough demand for a middle front seating position that some aftermarket product may become available?

Here is the F-150 Jump seat video:
I'm hoping they announce the CyberSUV with a 3rd row of seats or Cybervan with a 4th row, at the Cybertruck launch event.

This is my thoughts on why they didn't keep the extra 6th seat in the Cybertruck

That would be pretty cool to see: a Cyber vehicle with more rows (instead of the 6 foot bed). The Model X would be the "sleek" people carrier and the CV (cyber-van) would be the BAV.

I desperately need that middle front seat as an option, as we have 4 kids! Family of six, need a 6 seater. The CT website still shows 6 seats. But EVERY iteration we’ve seen over the past year has that middle seat nixed in favor or the console. VERY disappointed about this, so I’m hoping it is an option or there’s an after market solution sometime soon.
the vault.

This is a LOT like the seat me (5th kid) and my brother (6th kid) rode in on 1000 mile road trips to grandma's. It would entail about the same amount of environmental exposure since my dad never turned on the air-conditioner. That back window was always down. No telling how much the tailpipe emissions stunted my growth*.

Probably the reason you became a firefighter though? Still chasing smoke whilst facing backwards, in a fast vehicle with the back down? ;):ROFLMAO:

I find it a bit strange that Tesla continues to list six seats on their Cybertruck ordering page.

It still shows door handles, an interior light bar, no side mirrors, a SS bed, a Cyber-themed RV, etc., etc.

Does the seating surprise you more than any of the other things?

Yes, it does. The lightbar has been seen on at least one RC. The door handles there or not don't affect the functionality of the doors, nor does the SS to synthetic material affect the bed function. You can't say that about a missing seat. There's a good chance the mirrors will be remavable, if Elon is to be believed. A Cyber-themed RV is simply a prop, not a product for sale.

Yes, surprise me by a lot.

Most of the other things were improved or had easy alternatives or same function capacity.

door handles - door partially pops open

side mirrors - side mirrors can be removed

SS bed - standard with factory composite bed liner instead of having to buy after-market.

light bar - there are many low cost alternatives in after market.

Cyber-themed ATV - Cyber-themed is just a style not a function. There are many affordable ATVs available.

Seating for 6 adults -

* leave one of the family at home or use two vehicles which is impossible for most in this situation.
Many families do not have 2nd insurable licensed & reliable driver.
For families there are no other single Tesla vehicle with similar price and carrying capacity ( passengers & cargo ).
For another couple years large extended families will have to buy ICE Not BEV.
Even with BEV competitors announcing support of Tesla charging I would not consider a non-Tesla BEV for several years until it proven the competitors are reliable.
Right now in Mexico we can no longer even get the 7-seat Tesla Model Y and I think it is no longer available in Canada too.

* can transport fewer workers to job site. Huge increase in economic costs by needing another vehicle and especially a 2nd insurable licensed & reliable driver.

All true, however, I have to believe that BEFORE you are able to give them anything more than a small refundable deposit, the final specs will be on the website and order configurator. Same holds true for the roadster, except I don't think that is a "small deposit".

I don't understand why you don't get an EV truck from another maker. I mean, GMC is leading in the EV truck space, the only automaker with not one, not two, but three EV trucks! You don't believe me? Look here:

I'm sure one of those offerings will fit your needs perfectly. Or maybe not, only 1 out of 50 households consist of 6 people. Tesla only has 3-4% market share in the N. American market (with all four of their models combined) so there are plenty of potential households to add as customers without catering to people who want to fit a household of six in a pickup truck.

Oh, wait...Have you considered a Model Y or a Model X? They both have seven seat options, the Model Y will hold 5 adults and 2 children while the Model X will hold 7 full-grown adults.

Ooops, not a pick-up truck! I guess you are stuck with ICE pickups, or the EV truck industry leader, GMC, with one of their three ground-breaking EV pickup trucks! ?

'EV reservations are currently full'.

I'm not sure how this is going to be shipping in early 2024 when they don't have any actual specifications other than 'estimates'.

I can't buy an 'estimated' vehicle.

Also, the price of the Edition 1 - for 2024 - is over $100K. So not $50K, more expensive than a Lightning or a Rivian and only slightly less expensive than a Hummer.
