It's a pretty blunt object, so can't get the same efficiency at highway speeds.

The local weed ahop uses them for their delivery vehicles. While the shops are open, they park them two to a parking spot ^-^

Delivery vehicles like that are a perfect match for small EVs. Arcimoto would be ideal. Even better parking and easy in/ out for the driver.

Saw this crazy video from the IIHS where they loaded up an F150 with concrete and smashed it into their test wall at 40MPH.

These guys were just testing their system out to ensure it could handle the weight, but seeing what this load did to the cab of the truck was … stunning.

That white block you see in the drivers seat of the truck was strapped down in the bed of the truck at the start of the video. If anyone was in the truck when this crash happened they would likely be dead. The load just smashed through the entire bed wall, rear seats, front seats and is now smashed against the firewall.

When people talk about 3500 pounds of cargo capacity, that’s the kind of crazy forces you are dealing with.

Also notable, the truck just accordions up, but not in a good way.

I have a CT reservation and I currently own and drive a Smart, as well as a Model 3. I love the smart, and have never felt unsafe in it. And I simply laugh at the "men" who tell me they could never drive something so silly because ego. It's a vastly under-rated car (by Americans).

As Crissa said, the actual fact is that they are safer than many larger vehicles. But people are dumb and treat feelings as facts.
I love that photo. It is important that you "feel" safe in what you are driving. Not as important as actually being safe, yet important. And it is important that you "feel" good about what you are driving which obviously you do. It is a "fact" all automakers are aware of that feelings are important. 2/3 of my car purchases were purely practical and 1/3 had emotional component. In retrospective, I have to admit on the average, that 1/3 was better use of my money ( except one ).

I assume you are not one of us (People) and choosing gladiator or CT had no emotional component for you. Unlike you, I think a lot of smart car owners are "people" and buy them because they think it is cute (in addition to practical reasons). I am not sure how that is better than those that don't buy them because it is not manly enough. That said, I ride my wife's scooter more often than my own motorcycle because it is simply more fun especially when I get a wave from fat hairy guys on loud Harleys. Another emotional choice. Call me human (but not dumb).

Smashing into a concrete wall is a solid stop. Most accidents involve a soft stop from the impact of another vehicle as the crumple zone. That other vehicle will act as an cushion.
Most other vehicles are also moving. If they're going a different direction, it's very easy to end up with massive forces much, much higher than the static collision.

Just look up what happens when a motorcycle hits a spinning tire...

Two of the ugliest vehicles ever made, but the numbers were convincing. The Aztek was the first most ugly vehicle ever and also the numbers were shit. Didn't own one.

You can never exclude emotion, but I use spreadsheets to try to.

Is it emotion that part of the Gladiator's mission was to haul myself, family, and friends to places where we could enjoy each others' company and play on dirt toys? The line gets blurry doesn't it? The CT choice is the same.

You caught me, I enjoy offending dickwads who judge people by their cars.

My friend who has a gen 1 said the efficiency gets ludicrously terrible at 90 MPH. Mine sees mostly city, and the wife keeps putting random gas in it without accounting for it, so I don't know what we are actually getting.

Are you a reservation holder for Cybertruck? or a Smart car? in fact, I did take a test drive in a smart car surrounded by large SUVs and trucks on the highway feeling like I could be blown away any moment. Putting my own life on the line is one thing but my family? And that is the sad reason America disagrees with you. Average size and weight of Ameriacn cars on highways have been only increasing.

What you are saying makes sense as a whole for society but what makes sense does not often prevail.
Smart Cars are much more crash worthy than they appear.

That would reinforce too many typical stereotypes, but I'm thinking that a pro-gun sticker and a hunting brand could be good for confusion.

?I guess it’s better to remain neutral and keep your opinions to yourself to avoid any confusion, nowadays.

Ehh, the only way to provide positive peer pressure is to be out and open. If it's safe for you to do so. I mean, putting a gun sticker on a car you're storing guns in is probably not the best idea, for instance. But people are just more likely to be sympathetic to those they know in person. So it's a social win for equal rights. And safety!

People are also more apt to do the safe thing if they see/hear others doing it.

In AZ, we don't need to leave our guns in the car, so the sticker may just as well warn that the driver may return armed at any moment. I agree that normalizing is important, and I also believe that crossing the stereotypical left/right boundaries helps normalize all rights and all types of people.
