Any thoughts on why this side panel sticks up above the side wall of the vault?

Considering the finish of the rest of the truck this is kind of exaggerated or perhaps for-a-purpose.

Perhaps the side panel lifts?

I know… I’m smoking the Hopium pipe here. Just work with me here.

Every edge around those rear quarter panels has a gap on the latest beta photos and video, where it looks like that panel is pressed against internal seals.

So as per a few months back, I still think we're getting a full rear quarter panel sail storage. It you look at the CT electrical slide you can also see the exoskeleton with the same shape as the leak a while back. Meaning, as predicted in 2019 already, the inside bed walls are the structural part, not the outside walls. In this case though they are using the cast as the structural part and not the external 3mm Stainless at all, as this seems now what will open.

People can’t seem to get it out of their heads that Cybertruck is not just about replacing consumer trucks. It’s about replacing all pickup trucks. Absolutely massive number out there in fleets. Fleet buyers tend to be much more price conscious for obvious reasons.

There will be a low end/ SR Cybertruck. Whether it’s RWD only or AWD remains to be seen, but people who write it off aren’t paying attention to the narrative. Tesla is planning on selling massive numbers of Cybertrucks. The only way you sell vehicles in the millions is by pricing them aggressively. Fancy quad motor trucks are not going to be the bulk of these vehicles.

What prices/ configurations does Tesla need in order to sell millions of trucks a year? That’s the end goal. Not this year, but within 5 years.

So at $1000 per single axle drivetrain, a QM is all they need to make for a 4WD, and the 2WD DM will just be rear wheel drive.

The motor his 30% smaller again, no rate earth metals, they're using hairpin windings instead of wrapping them, and they will still be more powerful, and have a cheaper but more powerful motor controller with better cooling all around. In fact motor and controller performance are limited by heat generation. Have a listen to Monroe at the Austin Tesla club in the aftershow.

The drivetrain in the CT has also gone next gen, and the price is so ridiculous it's not worth saving $100-200 to have 1 less motor per axle, so you have to do 4 drivetrain models in the CT production. If anything, with the new unboxing setup, there will be a front and rear assembly where this will be a part of.

Speculation on the loss of the center front seat. I am bummed if this is the case. If losing 16% of seating, I expect a 16% reduction in price…😉 I am not convinced yet it is gone.
I agree that loss of a seating position is a huge deal. Getting to a worksite with 6 guys in one truck is a huge advantage over ICE Ford F-150.

I don’t have the market for central TX. Have you reached out to SunRun to ask them for help?
We are technically a sub for them but only in the markets they don’t service directly.
DM me more info

While staying optimistic on dimensions, and recognizing a lot of folks will want a more mid-sized truck footprint:

• back seat looks … small
• bed is … (very?) small (more of a 5.5’ X 4’ bed)
• frunk still could be … huge (deep toward driver)

Almost certainly a lowered tailgate - here’s an analogous button design from my Lightning app

3433E119-81E8-44C4-BF6B-E67EE6B16C41.jpeg

could be up nearer like 125mi. At 75mph the Rivian ATs take a 25% range reduction compared to the Rivian streets.

25% of 500mi = 125mi

because in most trucks, that would add to the blind spot created by the truck height and obscuring of the rearview mirror - maybe in CT the cameras/tech are suppose to avoid that common issue?

could you please come install just my Ford Pro Charger :ROFLMAO: Central TX is sh*t for service providers

Ask Rivian owners how you might get leafs out of that

The sarcasm is lost on this one, Luke

:ROFLMAO:

The 48V diagram... seems to show motors under the midgate area... so the tonneau cover should roll up there.... Also it appears there are motors near the liftgate, so possibly powered liftgate? Thirdly there is some device near the rear window, so possibly that window is powered...

I think the reason we see the roof as solid is that this truck has a solar roof. They are hiding it with an added headliner....

Wife was there, I think it impressed her enough I can now get it :) Her take away.. " it was big!"

Concerns
No Sail pillar storage:
zero signs this is a thing, no evidence thus far, and in-bed wall storage? Useless..
Less legroom in rear seats:
My R1t already is cramped.. need an upgrade here, and it looked about the same
Power options in bed look scarce:
port door shown looks barely enough room for air port and a 120v plug.. here's to hoping another port door for power is on final truck on passenger side like Rivian ( 240v 30amp minimum!)
Center dash screen:
not shown, but wiring schematic did show it so here's to hoping..
Bed shrunk:

Why have a 3500lb payload capacity for a shrunken/origami bed size? Looks like a lot of wasted space in wall for structure that can't be used for a 5th wheel or camper anyway..

To much bukaki in this thread. Need to separate topics for discussion.

I suspect the narrowing is due to rear steering.

Trying to catch up with the thread, but I'm 10 pages behind. My thoughts:

1. Yes. My reservation will be turned into a purchase.
2. Wifey and I really wanted the 6th "b1*ch" seat. Bummer. Still buying the CT.
3. Wanted a pass through, bummer. Still buying the CT.
4. Must have dual motor at least. Love to have quad, but must have dual for 4x4. No RWD for me.
5. This will be my last vehicle purchase, so I'll be paying the $7000 FSD.
6. I live in Texas. I'm hoping they start deliveries in Texas first. That'll move me up the list from 100,000th place :)

A couple of Points: First, yes, I actually wanted a RWD truck. living in Louisiana, driving 99% of the time on the pavement (in shambles as it may be), I want a large vehicle, with a commanding view of the road, with the utility of a truck to haul around my kids bikes without having to add a rack, pick up landscaping projects, Christmas trees, etc., but have ZERO intention of trailering. RWD is perfect for this. 4x4 is an unnecessary and expensive option I don't want.

Second: I really hope that is a Cyberstyle Van on the top under the sheet. With 4 kids, assuming we will get a front bench as they initially told us, we are already at capacity with this vehicle and i could really use the space of a full-size van for the same reasons as outlined above.
