This happens at every Tesla shareholder event.

This is not a Cybertruck event. That’s end of summer.

The annual meeting doesn’t usually have a big meet and greet where you can grill employees. They only take a handful of questions and what they share about the truck is going to be on a fairly tight script.

They might not even have the Cybertruck on display where people can fondle it with their lasers.

Bring the laser measuring sticks just in case, but don’t be surprised if security takes them.

Tesla just re-released the Model 3LR which may well be their “Highland“ model. Very strong chance they will be more interested in talking about that than the Cybertruck.

Not trying to trash talk the questions or ideas here, just setting expectations because most of the time we get crumbs at best and hear lots of crying after.

Hit the lottery tonight with an invite to the upcoming Giga Texas Shareholder meeting!!! You know I'll be paying extra special attention to the Cybertrucks on display...Here's a loaded question... :)

Anything in particular I should be looking for or ask about with respect to the CT?

I have a TSLA position and voted but didn't even try for a ticket to this event. Like most major sports, it is better viewed from the good seats of broadcast coverage. Now if I lived in Austin, I'd have gone for it. :)

If I understand correctly all TX buyers need to pickup their vehicles beyond the borders of TX.

Can any current Tesla owners in Texas confirm this? Something to do with the current law.

I believe this is said to be on the agenda for their political meeting this year? Make direct EV sales legal in TX?

You buy online, it’s delivered to your home, and Tesla sends paperwork instructing on how to complete registration of the vehicle in Texas…

… is how I understand it

For what it’s worth, Texas is not the only state with this scenario; it’s just the only state with this scenario and a CyberTruck factory within it.

I don’t see Texas legislature ever changing this law. It would be political suicide for the vast majority of members, who are from rural communities where car dealerships are among the three largest employers. (Something folks undervalue generally, like when they rail on “stealerships” skimming profits from automakers.)

You pick up at a Tesla sales/service center but the car is registered in Tesla’s name in a different state (mine was California) so you have to take the extra step to register in your name in TX.

That was almost 5 years ago. Not sure what the headquarters move to TX changed as far as the state of initial registration but I’m sure it’s still a different state.

They are still bound by some archaic car dealer laws that any business selling cars has to be registered as a dealer in the state and Tesla is not.

Not true, California has a functioning Cybertruck line and no law bah-dum-tss

Sometimes I wonder what will become of that tiny line in a tent.

The Texas new car dealer association has very strong political ties.
Nationally.

It’s a group of billionaires who have managed to wrangle local monopolies in the interest of “protecting the little guy”.

To @greggertruck (saw it)

The obviously grammar plus obviously erroneous reference to TikToc was supposed to be sufficient indication of the joking tone

that said, I ain’t mad about witnessing someone misread a joke about reading comprehension

Please make sure to bring a potato and a bag of chickens. That way you can get good pictures AND accurate measurements.

Honestly, surprised this forum is trading in Chickens and not the Supreme Leader’s preferred mammalian units of measure.

Chickens are a unit of length. Hamsters are volume.
