I've lived in Texas for 44 years. I've never heard of anyone here getting a ticket for driving in a passing lane.

If you're driving in that lane and traveling below (or not much above...) the speed limit, you are far more likely to be rear-ended by someone typing on their cell phone.

They are legal in TX, but just curious.

One of the biggest meth busts in Texas history was made on I35 a few years back because the driver was pulled over for driving in the passing lane.

To add some perspective to this, I've shot competitively for a while and a lot of LEOs do that as well and have befriended several troopers and patrol officers who hate people who drive in the left lane with a passion and enforce it.

No doubt LEOs enforce it occasionally, but I don't think many of those tickets are written compared to speeding tickets. The next time you're out enjoying your pastime with some LEOs ask how many speeding tickets they write for every passing lane ticket written.

I've got two buddies that are troopers that I can ask, I'll probably run into one of them Saturday if he isn't working.

I only use the passing lane in Texas for passing, and it's saved me from getting a ticket before.
They gun for you in the passing lane.

WIth the cyber truck, it's going to stand out too much, I imagine I will just use autopilot and chillax.
