There was a surge of these headlines this week. I wonder who is orchestrating this "not news" update and why. Political agendas? Short sellers? How does News media get away with this time after time? It's getting old. Are YouTubers actually getting more cred than mainstream news and investigative reporters?

Apologies in advance everyone, but the elephant in the room has long been itching to roll over and fart.

As others have pointed out records for Tesla Autopilot speak volumes for success with much fewer problems than human drivers for the same miles traveled. The air travel safety argument is also a similar comparison.

Make no mistake - NHTSA isn't really 'concerned' about Tesla autopilot nearly as much as ICE manufacturers and operatives within NHTSA are Insecure about Tesla autopilot and it's emerging success. They are trying to dampen or slow Tesla's progress just like the oil companies were doing when they shorted TSLA stock.

Joey is showing us he's very much like Trevor, only he's much more dangerous with handlers and a corrupt political machine behind him. Joey's promise of extending or continuing the EV tax credit is proving to be just as solid as Trevor's Badger pickup renderings were.

Joey is a Liar. Joey cares nothing about Sustainable Transportation or Sustainable 'anything' really. He is short-sighted and only cares about the stagnant UAW union as a political donor.

It's bad enough that Europe is pressuring Tesla to give other vehicle manufacturers access to a Supercharger infrastructure that we Tesla owners are paying for, - but now with the latest infrastructure bill now all Taxpayers including Tesla owners are being forced to pay again for Supercharger infrastructure that ICE manufacturers should be paying for on their own - period. This is nothing but a partial 'bail-out' in disguise. This is allowing incompetent ICE car companies to access corruptly, the resources of the people, just like communist criminal overlords do.

Redistribution of hard work and accomplishments to others whom did not participate, contribute, earn, nor deserve any of it, is the core Theft Process of Communism, and theft is Never Sustainable. Honesty however, Is Sustainable for those who have faith and belief in themselves, along with the wisdom to remain vigilant and the strength to fight against the theft and corruption of their accomplishments. Communism is extremely dangerous and oppressive, and I will Remind You All that Tesla, SpaceX, or any other substance-oriented company would not be able to even exist - let along thrive, under Communism. Many of you do not even know what we have or have had as a country and are taking America's freedoms for granted.

There is nothing wrong with helping those in need, but I believe in 'teaching people how to fish' rather than have them keep coming back for 'handouts of fish'. And it is certainly foolish to normalize processes that allow continued giving to those who don't necessarily have an urgent need, but instead want to take anything from others for granted whenever possible - in other words it's foolish and stupid to keep giving to a thief (or in this case the ICE auto manufacturers).

The incompetent car manufacturers Need To Fall - and there would be better people emerging from that as a result, if they were allowed to learn those hard lesson properly. But ICE manufacturer leadership is too short-sighted and faithless to believe in themselves - to get through a path of integrity when the 'going gets rough'. Life has many challenges - Tesla is no stranger to them...

We have negligible reasons to be concerned about Autopilot steering Tesla cars - but we should be Gravely Concerned about the corrupt and malfunctioning 'autopilot' that is steering Joey and this country's policies right now.

Very well spoken.

Tesla, who has led the way in REAL EV technology and to date has spent the most in furthering said EV technology and for them to not be invited to the little get together echos your points loudly. Joey is just pandering to the UAW because they own him.

Even if they couldn't build the Cybertruck this year, every production line they have is being designed for cars made with the 4680 cells.

They want to use the 4680 cells for the Texas built Model Y, they have a contingency plan to use the 2170 cells, but that would mean getting the production line going with the 2170s, then reworking it once they have production of the 4680 cells.

The Berlin Model Ys were supposed to use the 4680 cells.

The Tesla Semi cannot be built without the 4680 cells.

This is their next generation platform. It will save them billions on existing product lines and none of their new product lines are possible without it.

But... no current demand?
This isn't politics. As I also pointed out, they're bound by their own regulations to investigate every sob story that has a series of claims.

We don't find out it's frivolous until they finish their investigation.

-Crissa
It only has a series of claims because people are hyper focused on Tesla. I don't see people writing news articles about a series of Honda civics that hit first responders with cruise control on. It will be interesting to see what the data says.

I will believe the 4680 delay when its clear that they are ready to produce the car but they don't have the cells available. If they had warehouses full of those cells today it wouldn't matter because they are not ready for them and we would not start to see vehicles next week with them. If they get to the point where they can't produce a vehicle in Texas because of a shortage of a battery that they invented my opinion of Tesla will definitely diminish because that is crazy poor planning. I guess only time will tell.

What do you think happed to the Model S Plaid Plus?

If 4680 manufacturing isn't ready ... *SOON* ... Tesla is going to start making Model Ys with the 2170 instead. They need to keep the cash flow going. There will never be a moment where they have the 4680 Model Y production line sitting idle waiting for the 4680 to finish.

For similar reasons, Tesla's motivation to complete the Cybertruck beta and production lines is pretty thin until the 4680 is ready. The Semi has more or less been shelved as well until the 4680 is out.

If you are waiting for Musk to tattoo "Waiting for 4680" on his ass, I think he's holding off until next year for that.

I've watched many YouTube videos showing off what the Plaid can do, and Tesla is right. They don't need to make a Plaid+ (Yet). Check out this Bugatti dealer's reactions.

It wasn't just that. There's been a lot of weirdness around the launch of the Model S Plaid. They also
bumped the price by $10k immediately after they started shipping.

More to the point. We'll likely never know if the Plaid was intended to ship with the 4680 or not. Tesla has to keep the money flowing. There will never be a moment where there are a line of built up cars waiting on a dock for the 4680 battery to show up. If the new cells aren't available, Tesla will ship what they can make until it is.

If you think about it, that's why the first line to be complete at Texas is the Y line: It can run with 'today' technology, no 'tomorrow' tech needed. That gets more cars pumping out of their factories.

And Tesla doesn't prize profitability over numbers: They prize number of cars out of the factories over how much profit they make on each one: Just like they've raised prices this year, they've lowered prices. Anything to keep the maximum number of cars they can make, sold.

They've never had the problem of costs exceeding what the market will bear for their cars. And have no intention of seeing that point, since they just pump more tech and updates into them.

Once 4680 is spun up, that's when the Cybertruck gets to shine. That they're planning the Semi at the same time means they have pretty high confidence in getting the 4680s out at the price they want.

Reading people’s comments and seeing how ill informed they are. “Oh no, what will we do with all these batteries when the landfills won’t take them back”…and there is more.

I was just looking for a recent article I saw where they were investigating adaptive cruise control and had surveyed something like 40 people in Boston if I recall.
