That’s basically how most wars and genocides have happened. Thats how WW1 started with hitler.
I think you are taking this very much out of proportion. The dots you are connecting are just not real.

Hitler was WW 2 not WW 1. Hitler came in existence because of the oppression caused by reparations from the loss of WW1.

There was no equivalent to Twitter in WW2. Sure there was propaganda, but that was predominantly limited to the countries the media could reach through terrestrial transmission, which in those days was very limited and not International. Plus nothing was real time, and many didn't even have devices to recieve anything and had to rely on word of mouth. Virtually no one had the ability to transmit though.

With Twitter, anyone even "non-persons" can both transmit and receive to anyone, anywhere on the planet in real time. That is a completely other level.

Just like Elon, Hitler whole heartedly believed he was doing things for the betterment of humanity. I definitely don’t think Elon is malicious like Hitler
Not sure if your serious with the comparison of altruism here. Wanting to help mankind doesn't mean you are a homicidal maniac.

This type of rhetoric is part of the problem not a solution.

I just don't get it. When Elon says he wants to improve/protect "freedom of speech" on Twitter, what exactly does he mean?
Two elements or first principles, if you are EM.
  1. Free - as in freedom to stand on any street corner to shout your word to whoever will stop to listen
  2. Free - as in free beer, cost of access, to air your speech in the first place and cost for all to hear(read read)
One addresses colloquial ‘free speech’ meaning of the term. Everyone’s given inalienable voice not to be silenced, smothered or otherwise taken unlawfully.

Two addresses subtle forms of suppression, blocking, filtering and manipulation via access, content or context. Essentially, basic gatekeeping forms of control. Censorship plain and simple. And acts or devices created by others involving framing, siloing, partitioning and coloring how speech is heard.

Twitter historically has been a shitshow that even its creator hasn’t been able to manage. When Elon uses the glittering generality “improve” free speech on Twitter, I hear what follows as critique masquerading as constructive criticism. Without specifics from EM , his audience can only resort to their own creative imaginings where that might lead. Twitter’s BOD first genuflect was much like yours - bugger off!

Twitter protection of speech has amounted to moderation, suspension and banning AFAIK. Voices including the ex-Pres. of the United States have been subjected just as ordinary users with degrees of animus. Elon seems to want to address this animus which would be an improvement. What if? Everyone loved Twitter? That’s from where I surmise improvement will have its genesis.

Speaking only for myself, I have no facts how EM would improve. Tesla being prior art, expect AI, machines and computers to sum partial improvements.
Elon’s support of OpenAI, expect sophisticated algorithms to emerge. Tools that EM has stated will be open to the world, access free and available freely to review. That’s a fundamental change for better.
In the main it is within the realm of the impossible for EM to jump Twitter-as-a-platform transforming Twitter into a “space” one layer above Internet platforms.
Further voices will naturally associate, group and tier into levels of distinctions. Twitter can add value to levels through patronage rather than subscription. Subscription is such a blunt instrument. Twitter may choose to completely open its access leaving private tweeters to the likes of “Truth” type apps.
innovation for Twitter is a gateway chess match played in 6D. It has too many degrees of freedom with AI, archival, logins, passwords, etc… that EM wants to bring Authentication technologies to Twitterverse. First principles, ditch non-human tweeters, tweets are speech between persons. EM has placed this as a first order business priority to improve “free speech”.
Embracing speech Twtter has few limits that it potentially could evolve beyond ASCII text. More specifically, voice-driven/command-driven interfaces to other worlds. Worlds of IT, automotive, IoT, banking, etc…barely begin to open Big Bird’s eyes to his perch potential.
There is no reason FORD can’t be onboard every Lightning riding shotgun to diagnose its product OTA and improve its CX(customer experience) by tweet and with Twitter. Of course, subscription. But subscription of the positive, voluntary and FORD? FORD isn’t moderating Twitter so that’s CX improvement. Ditto Tesla and …

SpaceX and Starlink added value to the nation of UKA. Twitter can play above that war, open and freely. No longer curated news fed images but realtime photos could flow. Here in the USA, the two week repetitive running old photos as daily occurrences in UKA could dissolve. Just one potential outcome of Twitter as free space .vs. free platform.
