There are some video's on YouTube show this easy Truck to home power.
If you know how to have a portable generator power your home using an interlock switch (or manual transfer switch) the truck can do the same in case of a power outage. See picture.

Yeah. That’s the obvious way to do it on a budget.
does anyone know if a generator inlet can be installed in the setting of powerwall 3’s and solar?

Nope, generators are too unregulated to work with Powerwall (unless you have something like a DC genset running through a solar inverter)

Yea, and if you don't have an inlet box you can install one for about $80, the large extension cord will cost about $150

Or if you know nothing about electricity you can get an electrician to do it for about $200 depending on your setup.

VERY affordable and easy to do, and as a bonus any electrician can do it and you don't need Tesla to "activate" your inlet, or go through Qmerit.

So what if you put the manual switch after the powerwall? That way you can use the truck if you exhaust the powerwall. Would that work?

Oh sure, stacking a generator transfer switch between Powershare (or Powerwall) and the loads is fine. I have that setup.
Though I'm not clear on what happens if the UWC doesn't connect directly to the Gateway. Best to turn off Powershare at the truck first.
Once Tesla releases updated software, Powershare will work in conjunction with Powerwall using the wall connector.

May I also suggest some sort of lock-out /tag-out that you place over your MCU or steering wheel, to make absolutely sure no one messes up (big time) and tries to move the truck while plugged into the house?

So I thought that too but there are various threads that indicate I will need some sort of expensive gateway.

If you have Powerwall, Powershare will work with just an EVSE on the backed up side (Wall Connector is preferred by Tesla), once Tesla finishes the software needed.
If running manually from the bed, it's the same setup as a generator.
If adding Powershare without Powerwall, you need a Powershare Gateway 3V and UWC.

I have Powershare (no Powerwall, but I don't think it matters) which is before the circuit breaker panel, and then have a generator inlet connected to the panel with an interlock. Technically I can power the house using the truck connected to the generator inlet but that would be silly.

Instead, I rely mostly on the CT for short (1-2 day) outages, and if my truck gets down to 20% then I will disconnect it and use a gas generator to power the house. Then I have a mobile connector plugged in to the wall (being powered by the generator) to recharge the truck. A day is usually enough to get the truck back to a good state of charge and I can swap back to CT power for a few days.

Slightly annoying to have to manage the swap every few days but it's only needed for prolonged outages.

Cost me $175 to have an electrician do this. The next day we lost power.

It worked.
Awesome to hear. Here in Florida we are prepared. Imagine in California with blackouts how the CT will come in handy!
