Powershare update from Tesla (10/16/24): activation wait period, Powerwall, solar, backup switch

Any updates on Powershare + Backup Switch working? The public Powershare website still says it isn't supported. I'm with Southern California Edison who recently approved the Backup Switch.

I'm looking to have Powershare + Backup Switch installed on my house that has existing Tesla Solar. Does anyone else have this config working?

I don't think that would work. Gateway 3V is needed to supply the site controller.

Yes, I'd have the Powershare Gateway installed.

Backup Switch + Powershare Gateway + Powershare Wall Connector.

Where did you hear end of 2025? The Powershare website says "end of the year", but that is old from 2024 and hasn't been updated.

Ah, I don't have Powerwall. I'm mostly concerned with the Backup Switch aspect.

Tesla isn't doing great with the whole Powershare ecosystem. They really need to put more effort into this.

Just wanted to add. I had my PowerShare gateway installed on 1/31. They told me it could take a week to be enabled by Tesla so it will show up on the app.

Now, it is 2/5 and we have a power outage. I’m just short with the timing because it has not been enabled yet. So it is sad. ?

Yes, we are getting closer. They are testing the software one more time and will be starting to push out the firmware next week to customers with solar. You will receive an email when it is pushed out to your system.

Bad news, my installer said that the Tesla Backup Switch is being redesigned and instillations with the Backup Switch are on pause until it's redesigned.....who knows, it could take a year for utilities to approve the new part on top of that.

I'm only going to be in this house for another 2.5 years so this whole system will likely never be used by any future owner unless all EVs start supporting this standard.
