I’ve done this for the son of a friend of a friend, and the young man was thrilled (as was his college aged brother who rode along). I’ve also done it for many colleagues, each of whom squeals like a little boy when I floor it.

My MIL lives in St. Martinville, so I’ve had my CT thru Lafayette a few times…2-3x/year visits.

It would likely be a Saturday only opportunity, but I’m happy to stay in touch if you don’t find an opportunity in the interim. DM me.

I hope you find someone close by, but if you can't find anyone closer. I'm in Picayune MS. I'd drive an hour to meet you in a place like Covington LA, but I don't want to drive through Baton Rouge, that's just a bridge too far. My oldest birthday ride I've given is for someone in their 80s, the youngest about 6.

I have a true story you folks might enjoy reading. I apologize in advance for its length though.

Knowing that I had purchased a Cybertruck, the married daughter of a friend contacted me a few months ago to ask if I would mind giving a ride to an exchange student her and her husband were sponsoring from an Eastern European country. Unfortunately, I don’t remember which country. She said even though he’s been in the States several months that he hand’t seen a Cybertruck in person yet & his dream is to just sit in one.

I told I would most certainly let him sit in it, but I would also give him a ride the next time I was in town. However, I wanted the ride part to be a total surprise. She was very happy to hear that and a few weeks later we had the big reveal. He was only 16 or so, spoke outstanding English, and got excited as all heck as he was walking out & first saw Bullit for the show & tell.

All 4 doors & the tonneau cover were open and he was in awe as he walked around looking everywhere. Then I asked if he wanted to sit in it. Of course he did & so he began to go into the back seat. You should have seen the gigantic smile on his face when I said no, sit in the driver’s seat. REALLY? Sure. You need to know what it feels & looks like. And once inside & with his hands on the wheel & asked him for his phone so he’d have a picture to show family & friends when he back to his home to prove his story is true.

Sitting in the driver’s seat he looked like a kid in a candy store with a pocket full of money. Priceless. He thought the display was fantastic & really liked Elon’s interior design simplicity.

Now it was time for the big surprise. Do you want to go for a ride? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Nope, but you’ll have to find another seat. My friend’s daughter was already sitting in her seat.

As soon as we got onto the street I put it in FSD & had it navigate to a neighborhood where I used to live and away we go. It worked great thru stoplights, making turns, & all that. And to underscore the fact that the truck was effectively driving itself, I kept my hands off the wheel & showed that my foot wasn’t braking it either while explaining about the regen system.

Then, as we were going up a very steep hill I asked what he thought about FSD and we had a good laugh when he said "it’s kind of scary not being in control yourself". At the top of the hill it made a perfect left turn even with oncoming traffic & then a quarter mile later I had to intervene when making a right turn.

The problem is that my old neighborhood has on one way in & out and each direction has its own lane with landscaping between them. And the Cybertruck chose the outbound lane, not the inbound. I then used the mic to verbally notify Tesla the reason for the intervention & then explained all that to the exchange student after doing a U-turn to head back. But I had one last surprise I hadn’t told anyone about………..acceleration!

There’s about a 1/2 mile stretch of good road without much traffic & do I slowed down to about 10 mph and then floored it!! All I heard was "HOLY COW & OH MY GOSH!!! I didn’t know it was that fast" as he beamed a fantastic smile ear to ear. Then I told him about The Beast and he was shocked to learn there is an even faster Cybertruck available.

So to wrap this up, when we got back I asked if the ride satisfied his Cybertruck bucket list item. As they say, one picture worth a thousand words & the happiness on his face was the only answer I needed. He was obviously elated to have received such generosity, something he never expected.

It was a good day.

Tesla used to do overnight test drives…perhaps you can ask them for that or just ask them to test drive it for a couple hours.

I would totally do this for you but I’m super far from you (Boston, MA).

There is only one SC in Louisiana, it is in New Orleans (175 miles) and they are not allowed to give test rides. Anyway, I am in New Orlean, when is your child’s birthday, if I available I might be able to make it happen?

if all else fails, take him to tesla and have them give you test drive, say need to put child seat in the back to see how much leg room he is getting and also you need to decide on the regular awd or the cyberbeast. should have a good amount of time on the test drives.
