Being able to see the realtime location of a Tesla (in most cases) helps to ease the curiosity and wait times at least. No other vehicle reports this type of data.

I didn't see this mentioned in the thread, but are they offering any kind of "oops, sorry about the huge hassle" compensation?

Free superchargers miles? Anything?
I have not seen that offered. They gave me a Model S with free supercharging. Maybe I will ask them when I pick up the vehicle if I can get some free supercharging miles, especially since my rate at home $0.34 (Pacific Gas & Electric) is higher than some superchargers in California. I was in Elk Grove, CA at the Supercharger rate was $0.24. I have seen some chargers as low as $0.12 in places like Reno, NV.

So when the supercharger rate is lower than your at home rate it changes the charging strategy when on trips. It is supposed to be the other way around but with PG&E’s major rate hike for EV’s it flips things on its head.

The Error seems to be redundancy sensors. That sounds to me like it's the front SbW steering.

If so this "Critical Warning" is obviously a new one for Teslas, in that no other Tesla's have SbW. The question is, is it a false positive (code bug, momentary comms or sensor) or an actual failure of one of those, and is the "Critical Warning" intentionally overly sensitive to these events to make sure nobody gets hurt because of them?

From memory, there are three redundancy sensor and comms systems on the SbW, but only two mechanical actuation redundancies. So this could be a 1 in 5, or a 5 out of 5 system failure.

Can you enter the Service mode and maybe find out the exact error code and explanation of that?

I'm sort of hoping it's the same across all of them, so it has a common cause that can be fixed with a recall. If they are different, it might be a wider issue.
Knowing your car can identify and communicate potential problems offers invaluable peace of mind. This awareness allows you to make informed decisions about your vehicle's health and avoid the anxiety associated with unexpected breakdowns.

Contrast this with other (ICE) cars, where drivers might only become aware of car issues through noticeable performance changes or complete breakdowns. This can be inconvenient, costly, and even dangerous in certain situations.

Sure, but most modern vehicles including ICE have ECUs that throw error codes on a screen or at least over OBD2 which any user can access via a bluetooth dongle and a phone app. Tesla has these too btw.

But diagnosing failures is not the same as avoiding failures from happening in the first place by design. The interconnection between brakes, park brake, motor regen, steering and door locks is completely avoidable without any difficulty whatsoever, bar maybe a lightning strike.

I can get over one failure type accross them all, but not multiple failures from completely different sources.

Actually in saying that, I wonder what their ESD protection is like, and if it all happened after a lightning storm...well at least then we could blame it on Ford I suppose.

I was just contacted by my service advisor that everything is repaired and ready for pick up. Tomorrow morning beginning a 500 mile road trip up to Reno and South Lake Tahoe. The roads are mostly clear from all the snow and the temps will get down to 21°F overnight. I figured it would be a good way to test it.

I will report back how things go.

When you pick it up can you please confirm what work was done, and maybe ask them for a copy of the mechanics report?

It would be very interesting to see for some of us. :)

Stay vigilant and safe!

They did not other than the LV Harness being faulty and replaced. So tomorrow I am going from the S.F. Bay across the state to Reno, NV then to South Lake Tahoe. Good test.

Update: I picked up my Cybertruck Wednesday, March 7th after they replaced my Low Voltage Wire Harness. I drove 15 miles home without an issue.

This morning, I drove from the SF Bay Area to Reno, NV, then over Mt. Rose (8,911 feet) down to South Lake Tahoe for a total of 318 miles. No errors or alerts.

However a new problem sprung up…the down arrow on the tonneau cover does not work. The up/open button works and the tail gate button works. So the only way to close it is via the app or inside the vehicle.

Any update on your tailgate, looks like several others are having the issue.

The Tonneau Cover works normal now. The problem was the down/close button stopped working. Not sure if it was the colder weather up in the Sierra’s. But it appears to have worked itself out.

Hey man, so I’ve identified 4 of us now that have the same issue, almost certainly centered around the 48v harness. The other 2 are located here in Florida and are currently waiting 2-3 weeks now for updates from Tesla. Seems to be a bigger issue than anyone is reporting on.
