I don’t write here often but am a lifetime “car guy.” I am avid follower here as well as a reservation holder. We have 2-Y Performance models and love them. Had a reservation for Rivian’s R1S and when contacted to proceed, my wife dug in and said to cancel because she did not care for its appearance. Just like all of us here, I have been waiting for the CT to be our’s. Now I’m not trying to be a downer here, but I’m concerned she will be unhappy with the most recent photos showing the frunk area of the CT (see picture below).

Please offer any thoughts on persuasion should it be needed.

I think you are in a right pickle. "Happy" about the looks is one of the hardest things to persuade someone.

Go at it from another angle. The CT is safe and efficient because of it's front design, because it allows lots of room for compression in a collision, if you are ever in one seeing it has all the FSD safety options enabled by default. This means less g-forces on impact, and the stubby nose and angles means it creates an air bubble in front of the vehicle to separate the airflow making it more aerodynamic, and therefore goes further with less batteries. Go on to explain how aerodynamics is the main consumer of energy on a EV, so improving that means you get a longer range vehicle for less money. The savings of which you can buy her some diamonds. Problem solved.

I am loving the stubbier front end styling of the Cybertruck. I think the design team did an outstanding job.

I’m still amazed at how much the production version looks like the 2019 concept.

I see Rivians almost daily. And I've never liked the front headlights. The trucks just look wimpy to me.

Come on this is currently the fastest production pick-up in the world, but it sure doesn't look like it! I've seen the Prototype Cybertruck at the Petersen Museum and it looks badass.

BTW, they look better at night, but it's funny. With those unique headlights and lightbar you can tell it's a Rivian behind you at night from 1/4 mile away. That may be a problem for police departments with the CT too. They may not like being that easily identified.

While I'm not excited about the front aesthetic of Rivian, once I learned the headlight shape was derived from the classic oval carabiner, I could relate more to the front design and appreciat the tie into "adventure vehicle." Sure beats "blade design language" used by so many asian car companies (and Chevy suburban)....yuck. Don't get me started on massive "angry" truck fronts (Ram, Toyota...)

How about these fugly fronts:

I'll have to wait until I see it, but the only thing I'll be looking for is the coefficient of drag.
I went to 'Les Girls' Cabaret Show in St Kilda back in '77 looking for the same reason! I was 'Eighteen With A Bullet'
'FABULOUS DARLINGS'

The original looked better. This one I call stubby. And I wanted a larger frunk. Good luck with persuasion.

brother let me tell you. my mom when she saw it at the unveiling in 2019 could not believe I put a deposit for it cause she thought it was hideous. I was 50/50 but love Tesla and wanted a big car.
she saw it maybe a year later when it was in the NY show room and fell in love. she said nothing strikes you more than when you see it in person. mind you she is not a car person at all. knows nothing about cars. I saw it last year during the giga Texas investor event and let me tell you it was the original prototype the one from unveiling and it is ridiculously nice in person. like jaw dropping. pictures do NOOOO justice. in person it was massive and the coolest car I've seen in person. in comparison It looked bigger than the hummer EV. trust me. this should be enough to persuade her but if she still is not on board wait till she sees it in person.

I was on the fence last year about just dropping the reservation and picking up a new 911 Carrera 4s but after seeing the truck in person it changed my mind
