Tesla goes BYC, placing the cord on owners, the plug receptacles can be located inside the frunk easier than focusing on OG Gas cap locations outside - on the body.

Frunk access is shortest path to connect to chargers from either, and both, sides of a Cybertruck. It’s non-interfering, non-disruptive. Located in the fender flair was trick but a dirty one. Behind, inside the fender itself adjacent to the fender flair is marginally protected from liquid dirt. And the license plate trick is OG but exactly medial which forces using one distal end of the vehicle. In addition to BAW and BYC frunk access is BFD( Big Frick’n charge Door) making frunk more integral to Cybertrucks core functionality - electric charging. Not to mention a handy charge cable storage locker. Tesla may just innovate with an autospool cable retractor so its handsfree - hidden beneath the well of frunk bucket.

If it's inside the charging port, you probably didn't close it. And does ice normally accumulate behind the flare? Or under it, where it catch the spray?

The under side and side of the fender flare catch most of the slop. My current truck has the fuel filler door located just behind the fender flare and it stays clean there, like the original Cybertruck design.

Over engineering!

None exist from memory in 60 yr automotive to which I’ve been part. Tons of driveaways, tho.
Why over-engineered? The now you know solution was just a spring attachment that ejected the plug after the plug unlocked. It already unlocks as it is. Just needs a spring to eject it. Easy peezy. :)

There will be an Optimus who patrols superchargers and plugs in robot cars. He will also plug in and unplug your car and it will continue on its way. In America we will tip Optimus, I believe robots like free television shows they can watch in 2 min.

Misunderstood…misread “Panic Button” nanny engineering to provide safety device in event of Armageddon.

Sure, spring release minimizes driveaway damage as well. That’s idiotproofing. I’ve driven off once. I’m an idiot.

So why isn't the one atop the flare going to stay clean?

But who plugs in Optimus? 🥴

I can just imagine a Optimus swinging a "Charge Here for $8" sign in peak traffic, and then randomly licking charge plugs at night out of shear boredom, whilst aimlessly loitering at Superchargers looking for the next hookup. 🤣

The next obvious location for the charge port is in the tail light, but this is complicated by the tailgate.

Putting the plug in the bumper or near it seems to suffer the problem of being in a bad place for collision damage.

Have you ever used a Tesla frunk? You would have to have your frunk open to the elements for 40 minutes and it is no fun opening or shutting them manually. No, it might be a 'logical' place to have one but it is 'not' practical. I am sure, thinking in this way, that Tesla thought about it before they decided to put their ports in the back.

Not to mention running a high-voltage line through the tailgate!

Fake!

charg port is in the fender. No point cutting holes in exoskeleton to weaken it. That logo is off because they can’t use a real Tesla logo.
