I sure as hell didn’t buy it expecting to pay 6K at 51K miles because of a known defect.
So you didn't actually agree to the warranty terms before purchasing?

Interesting.

exactly. and again im team tesla. we own two of them, and ive conviced friends to buy them. im fine with beta testing fsd and getting the updates, thats cool. im also fine adding additional waterproofing to improve the vault, its totally fine that the noise cancelling feature doesnt actually cancel noise. I also dont mind that I dont have a solar tonneau, 200mi less range, ASS, self presenting doors, etc etc.

I was even cool with the price increase, because I bought one.

Becauuuse of that, I (and a couple of others, it seems like) do mind that there seems to be a critical part of the electrical system that appears to be failing fleet wide…its cool if you dont mind.

if/when yours fails are you going to get it replaced?
Already got mine replaced, and the service center treated me very well because I have a super solid reputation with them.

This is a gen 1, first of it's kind radically new and different product. If you aren't cool with that then you plainly shouldn't have purchased it.

Tesla is making this right by everyone, and you guys are acting like Elon has personally broke into your house and shot your dog.

nah dude, your arms are just tired from all the water you’re carrying for him. you’ll spill less of it if you stop yelling at the people carrying it right beside you. im just complaining about how heavy my bucket is. keep you eyes front, place one foot in front of the other.

As all current badge owners of failed PCS know this part failure has caught on like wildfire.. I just picked up my CT after getting the new revised part installed "G" and my SC has told me they are swamped with PCS failures.

I proceeded to inquire about cost to replace the part if I was without warranty and they stated that the cost to replace was around $4,000 but due to high failure rate the new cost to replace is around $1000.

This news might alleviate some stress for those without warranty.

This comes from Naperville Service Center, here near Chicago..
I'll believe this when I see paid invoice.

I had mine replaced about a year ago, and it was with rev E.
My understanding is that if a part fails under warranty, then fails again, regardless of warranty status, it would still be covered as a warranty repair. I put maybe 10k miles on my truck a year, so i will definitely get the full 4 years out of it. I just wish we knew why they were failing.

Parts warranty is separate from vehicle warranty. You don't get 4 years on parts. It would be remainder of vehicle warranty or 12 months 12500 miles whichever comes last.

The PCS failure mode hasn't produced safety issues. I'm not sure what you mean.

Tesla has been proactive. What else do you want them to do?
They are not being proactive at all. Proactive would mean acknowledging that they put a faulty part in your trucks, rendering your vehicle useless because you won’t be able to charge it. They would then replace the faulty part, rather than potentially charging you up to 7,000 dollars or, if your service center happens to be acting kindly, paying only 1,000 dollars.

It’s comments like this that baffle me.
maybe because you are all acting like Tesla is out to get you. Too many people on this forum expect a perfect product with absolutely zero faults. ever.

there is clearly a flaw in either the design or they had a large batch of faulty parts. Tesla is working on it. what else do you want them to do?

I'm not aware of anyone that hasn't been made whole from the faulty PCS. Do you know someone?

Seems like my SC is being proactive. I scheduled an appointment for vibration and they added PCS replacement without any request from me. I did ask about it one time at a previous appointment out of curiosity and because of what I’ve read in here, but I haven’t seen an error in my truck yet. Seems like they are getting out ahead of it to me. VIN 178XX

This is what I would like to see. Have you checked service menu to see if you have any non customer facing alerts? Service fix should be wording.
