I would think a CyberSUV would be the next step.....same platform and utilize the back for 3rd row and luggage.
Don’t think so, focus is moving to Robo first
A small cyber pickup, slate sized but cybertruck tough, will work dual duty as a delivery Robo

Tesla said they do not have a roadmap for any other SS vehicles. Likely due to the cost.
This. They’ve already said they will retire SS with CT. If you want the cool futuristic looking SS body, your 3 options are available to order now. No smaller truck or SUV/Van is coming with this body design. They might be built on the same platform at some point in the future and will be awesome vehicles, but they will have regular painted panels.

early reservation holder (still intact) love everything about the Cybertruck except the size. Lars, don't make it look like any other pick up, please-just smaller.

Keep the same platform with one big change. Scrap the SS exterior for low cost SMC composite body panels.

The move would save weight, lower costs, increased battery range and offer a more refined exterior (eliminates wavy SS panels).

A smaller Cybertruck would have more global sales potential than the existing full-sized version. The Cybertruck is currently offered only in the North American market, which accounts for around 40% of Tesla's global sales volume. The Cybertruck will probably never be offered in China or Europe, which are the other big markets for Tesla vehicles, because there is little interest in full-sized pickups in those areas.

Tesla has announced that the Cybertruck will be exported to the Middle East, and it could maybe sell in Australia/New Zealand as well. However, these are much smaller markets than China or Europe.

Smaller pickups, like the Toyota Hilux, do sell globally. So in theory, it could make sense for Tesla to develop a smaller version of the Cybertruck. However, it would be risky in the current economic climate. The only Cybertruck production facilities are in the US, and China and Europe have been applying steep tariffs on US-made vehicles. Sales of the Model S and Model X, which are also produced only in the US, have fallen sharply overseas for that reason.

A reminder of how important localized strategy and infrastructure are, much like what I look for in services like https://a-pay.one/ that handle international transactions quickly and in local currencies.
A scaled-down version with similar styling and utility could be huge, especially if paired with local production to avoid those steep tariffs. Personally, I’d love to see that along with some modular options, maybe a retractable roof like you mentioned or swappable bed attachments for different use cases.

Why make a smaller CT version for general sales? IMHO this seems even more niche than the current CT which in itself is the game changer. Furthermore, I’d say that in order to make a smaller truck, Tesla would have to go with traditional body panel materials to lighten the vehicle and enable useful range given the smaller volume available for batteries at the smaller scale. Lots of development expense for little ROI. This seems counter to their business model.

Maybe I’m missing something but I don’t see any opportunity for technology advancement with a smaller CT either; and with the Robotaxi coming online, they have to be analyzing how long personal ownership, especially in large cities, will continue to be relevant. I think there is room for applying steer-by-wire technology to their cars, whether personally owned or Robotaxis, as this would further improve controllability for FSD.

Tesla Is a technology company that appears to base their product decisions on significantly advancing the state of the art while using product sales to fuel further advancements.

I'm not going to get any "Likes" for saying this, but I wouldn't be surprised if Tesla never releases any new models of traditional, non-autonomous vehicles. The current lineup, S3XY + Cybertruck, may be the final lineup.

Of course, Tesla will still sell non-autonomous vehicles as long as they are profitable. And we could still see "refreshes" of existing models (like the recent Model S and X refreshes) and new versions/trims of existing models (like the new RWD Cybertruck, or the forthcoming "extended" Model Y L). But I don't see any signs that Tesla is developing anything really new -- except for fully autonomous models like the Cybercab and Robovan.

Tesla may be betting the ranch on autonomy. And in that case, it wouldn't make sense to make big investments in the development and production of old-fashioned, non-autonomous vehicles.

Sure, I could be wrong about this; I'm not psychic and don't have any inside info. Just saying that it seems like a possibility that has to be considered.

Thanks for all the replies. From my point of view, if it's not unique, I'm not buying it. Cookie cutter vehicles don't belong in my yard. But I have faith. I think there is something rattling around in Elon's brain. Just have to wait and see.

Cybercab is the next product. I will buy that if they actually sell it.

It took Tesla 5 years from showing the Cybertruck to selling it. It's going on a year coming up since they showed the Cybercab. Hopefully it's not another 4 years until it's out.

You could swap out the quarter panels, no problem.

Frunk lid would be tricky, but the doors would be impossible. They are structurally stainless steel (exoskeleton?) and replacing the outer surface would require redesigning the whole door.

Get yer filthy hands off my stainless steel 😤
