Yes it is. A bed liner helps slightly. I keep one of those 2x3 standing kitchen mat in the truck so I can have something to stand on during showers when I camp (gravel is painful on the feet). It also works great to protect the knees.

If that’s true your marriage is still in good shape.
Too functional can be dangerous. Nearly had the bed (more likely sofa) to myself after I gave her an alarm clock.

I use the standard size 'Jet sled' for bed management. It's like having a built in drawer you can slide in and out with very low friction. Keeps the bed much cleaner. I use the divider for extra room infront of the bed for a 2nd storage area and adjust to keep the sled from sliding fore and aft. Best accesory out there. Get the longer XL size if you don't have a divider.

I would think the foam pad would still follow the ridges and groves of the bed.
I think I have some similar material around the house that I can test the idea with.
The thicker pads work best, home depot has them, amazon has them. Yes the ridges are there but approx. 2 inches of foam feels very good for my knees.

I’ve tried the two pads referenced in this thread,

They’re just ok, haha!!

There is no better one than this one: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-Soft-Foam-Kneeling-Pad-90346/315303737

I know, I know…$17 for a piece of foam rubber?!?

I use this thing all the time around our property.

It’s soft, but not too soft. It’s water proof. It’s big. The others just aren’t as comfortable.

Agree but it’s a lot better with my TPU bed mat. I can kneel on the floor without any pain.
