I have TRIED to back off my time on this site because I'm NOT buying this expensive truck.

I am WAY more than unhappy with the fact that Tesla CHANGED what the Cybertruck would be. At the reveal 4 years ago 2 million people thought they were going to build the go to utility vehicle of the future. An EV for everybody, soccer moms, family vacations, Plumbers, basically the VW bus of the future. A major part of that perception is price. It was SUPPOSED to be affordable, so everyone would want it. AND buy it.

What Tesla has built is an AWESOME supertruck. That costs more than the AVERAGE people see as affordable. So now I see the real possibility of the Cybertruck becoming something most people will perceive as an object of excess. And instead of wanting to buy them, they will HATE them.

Elon and the engineers got sucked up in the excitement of building the most awesome vehicle ever. Which is IMPOSSIBLE to build at the reasonable prices they were promoting at the reveal 4 years ago.

Thanks Elon, you messed up on the mission!

I thought the EV future was coming quickly 4 years ago when they pushed a lie that by now there would be Cybertrucks everywhere and it would be NORMAL. Oh, and don't get me started on FSD vehicles!

You can buy one in the shop and have it added.
Can you please add a screenshot where you can buy the solar glass out of the Tesla Shop?

Bill,
I've said it many times on this site, there is a butt for every seat. If the Avalanche fits your needs best, I'm happy for you. I don't feel the need to convince everyone to want to drive what I drive, or that what I drive is the best in their mind. I only care if it is the best in MY mind. So if the Avalanche is best in your mind, for your mission, Cool!

Every design decision is a compromise. If you want more tech, you get more cost. If you want more range, you get more cost and more weight. If you want more performance, you gotta lose some weight or use bigger motors, which reduces range. In the CT, if you want the 470 mile range, you give up some bed space and add some weight. You also don't get the Beast. You want/need 600 miles of range, you're burning dinosaurs, or you're driving an unladen Tesla Semi. In my mind, the compressor isn't a big deal, as the pressure and capacity of the tank needs to vary based on the usage. A 23g brad nailer ain't got the same needs as a pneumatic grinder. And with all the outlets, I think it's a better option to buy whatever you need and slap that bad boy in the vault. But again, that's just me.

My major point is, I don't see the 2019 specs as "promises". I think we gained quite a bit, and lost a little. I think the 2026 deliveries are going to be a fair bit cheaper than the 2024 deliveries. I think we also gained some performance and capabilities, and lost only a little. But that is just me and my opinion, which is worth every dollar you paid for it. Again, there's a butt for every seat.

Two things made this delivery event a little more painful than it had to be. The first are the unrealistic expectations Tesla planted in peoples minds and carefully nurtured for 4 years. That makes the business decisions feel personal.

The second is a paradox really. They delivered, in many ways, much more than they promised with the many technical advances. Problem is that it puts the vehicle in a luxery price class. If you can still afford the vehicle it is a stunning achievement making the perceived deception all the more painful.

Bill,
We didn’t “lose” anything! You can’t lose something you never had. In the dual motor, 500 miles was never an anticipated feature, only on the “Tri-Motor”. And the “Tri-motor”, as originally planned in 2019, IS NOT BEING BUILT, AND WAS NOT PART OF THE DELIVERY EVENT. Now, we can argue whether the Beast is the Tri under a different name, or just because it has the same number of motors it MUST be the same model? Did the name “Tri-Motor” cover any CT with three motors, or was it a model that is not now being offered?

Again, the dual motor is UP in range from 300 to 350. The top model (whether the same or different) has 440 miles. You even admitted it. So your complaint is the price and the compromise in bed space. Fair enough, but them batteries gotta go somewhere! Maybe you can find someone to install them under the rear seats. Someone else did it that way. And I’ll say it again, the price we see today will NOT always be the price. Tesla has NEVER built a car with a static price. And unlike EVERY other OEM, Tesla has DROPPED prices over time. Look up the pricing on the 911 in their drag race. Year over year that car has risen in cost at a rate exceeding inflation and all indicators.

My true gripe is the price. I put in a reservation for the Dual Motor and I'm sad to see how high the price went. Whether I'll still get it is tbd. Do I still want it? Very much. But that's a steep price.

I'm satisfied with the features and specs, especially that they actually got over 300 miles for the AWD. I wish they had kept the digital rear view mirror. That's the only spec/feature from the prototype I really feel I'll miss.

I've been following this poll. Price and range obviously numbers 1 and 2.

I am more than a little surprised that the ramp is 3rd. I assume this vote is for the lack of the built in tailgate ramp and not a vote against the overpriced and optional standalone ramp marketed with the accessories? There were several items I thought would be prioritized above the ramp. Interesting.

I wish the poll had run a little longer.... I would also be interested in what "other" was to the voters. Maybe run the poll again with only 1 vote and leave "price" and "range" out all together?

I initially signed up for the duel but then upgraded to the tri for the range.

I live in Canada and it remains to be seen when the trucks will come up here (prices aren't listed on the website), and even though disappointed, after watching a couple of videos, it is an amazing machine and I will settle for the duel.

Problem is that in Canadian dollars, with no federal grant, exchange plus and our 13% taxes, I am looking at 126 k CAD just for the duel version.

Also I am retired, but I planned ahead and it now all depends on tesla stock. I was planning on trading my M3 and selling 1/4 of my tesla stock, but now I need the stock to get to at least $350 per share. Not impossible as the stock is up and down like crazy so I will just wait and see.

Just like the S, 3, X, and Y, the price WILL come down and the range will go up. I, too, wish I could get my hands on a try with 500 miles and all the bells and whistles today! And for only $70K.

Where is the 300 and 350 listed? uhhhhh, everywhere??? The initial 2019 event had the dual at 300+ miles. The current dual is 350. So, if my math is correct, we are up from 300 to 350. How is that NOT accurate?
