Hey all —

I am currently in Alamogordo, coming back from Sedona. I am currently at 26% at the hotel and I do not see a charger anywhere close by with my range. I unfortunately do not have the adapter for 3rd party. Trying to making it at least to Las Cruces.

Suggestions?

ABRP says you can make it to Las Cruces with 5%.

This assumes 389 Wh/mi. You can probably get that or better by staying around 40-45 MPH.

Not sure I could achieve that with passengers (elderly) and luggage. I would prefer to not risk it.

How long are you gonna stay at the hotel?

- Is there any local store you can get an adapter?
- Order from Amazon next day delivery?
- If time allowed: unload all the luggage, pump air to 55 lbs and drive "alone" at 40 - 45 MPH like CyberGus suggested to a SC and back.

Why do you get such bad efficiency? passengers and luggage shouldn't impact your range significantly at all. Do you have the recommended cold psi in your tires?

My Dual Motor with All-Terrain tires gets 389 Wh/mile at 55-60 mph.

Plus, there should be a reserve range of at least a few miles once the truck gets to zero miles remaining.

Weight won't have that dramatic of an impact on your range. You should be good, unless you are towing

RV parks are literally everywhere.

In late 2018 I took my family in our Model 3 to southeastern Arizona to visit the OK Corral. I convinced an RV park manager to let me charge.

In 2020 I hauled an Airstream camper trailer with our Model Y from Scottsdale, AZ to Zion Nat’l Park in Utah, and back. I called the manager of the Cameron Trading Post and got their permission to charge at their RV park.

Most RV parks have 50 or at least 30 amp receptacles. I’d bet there are many RV parks, possibly even a dozen or more, within range of where you are at.

Let us know how you manage! Good luck!

Legitimate question: are you not using the nav when you’re going long distance?

Even if you know the route - or for short drives, with live traffic updates and road closures, speed cameras, etc I cannot tell you the last time I went anywhere further than my grocery store without using the nav. I’ve done many cross country drives in our teslas (currently on a long distance drive in the finger lakes area) and literally never had that ‘oh crap’ moment thanks to the nav and the software telling me how fast to drive etc

Do you have your Tesla mobile connector? If you do even a 120v plug is slow but will add range overnight at the hotel. Definitely use low power mode even if you don’t.
As stated above, RV parks are everywhere.
