Good morning all!

Received my second “AC Charging unavailable” warning in two weeks and this time it is sticking, causing me to be unable to charge. Checked the service menu and it is a PCS issue. I have tried the soft reset/Safety menu power off. Foundation AWD, 33,200 miles, and 4000 range VIN.

Checking to see how many people have been affected by this problem and if service is the only fix, what is the turn around time if parts are available?

Seems only a hard reboot would come close to solving this issue. Soft reboot is effectively just a user interface restart, I believe. You've probably already done the reboot via service menu, I'm sure. Be interested in seeing how you get this resolved.

PCS failure seems to be a “common” issue, even with higher 70k VIN range like mine. I never had a charging issue, mine went straight to being bricked. PCS failed and blew the high voltage fuse (thankfully). Got lots of responses from people saying the same or similar happened to them. Totally random, just a faulty part Tesla is using.
Get in service ASAP and get PCS replaced. Never know how long service is going to take 🤷🏼‍♂️ but always count on being in a loaner for a week or longer.

PCS failure is not that uncommon. It's the heart of an EV and is heavily loaded, so any of the electronic components that are drifting out of spec will cause it to misbehave and fail. It's located inside the HV pack.

The good news is that the HV pack does not need to be removed. The bad news is that the HV pack must be completely disconnected, including the coolant. And the PCS is accessed from the top, so the tonneau, bed floor, and air suspension must all be removed.

The Service Guide lists the procedure time as "4.20" hours, but IDK if they're trying to be funny.

Thanks for the feedback. Seems common enough for a service bulletin/recall. Sucks!

Update:

Dropped off for service. ETC: “couple/few weeks”. Bummed doesn’t even begin to describe the mood.

I got the "AC Charging unavailable" alert two days ago. AC or supercharger would not charge. Created a service ticket for SC and took it in this morning. They are working on it now. Won't know yet how long they will keep it. Got a AWD CT as a loaner. Getting the tires rotated and Cant Rail replacement done also. My FS AWD CT vin is 014xxx, 6400 miles, picked up in 06/2024.

My current truck had a PCS failure (only recognized by a flickering charge port light) and required replacement to fix. Its a pretty major service and requires disassembly of the truck bed, tonneau, and air suspension system. Should only be done by experienced service tech.

Would have been nice to get a CT as a loaner. LR M3 for the win smh. I am hoping the timeline comes back to the left once they get the parts in.

Did you at least get a loaner?
Yep, old body style LR M3 smh. It is what it is. Hopefully the timeline comes back to the left once the parts are in

Had my PcS replaced at 20k miles. Was still able to AC charge, but AC outlets kept getting alerts and unable to use. Was in service for about a week

Was it in service that long because they had to order parts & it took a few days to get them?

Got my CT back yesterday. SC had it for two days (Wed & Thru). Here is what they did to fix my issues and alerts. They did a good job on the Cant Rail Assembly work. BTW SC gave me a AWD CT as a loaner.
