Just got a email from Tesla -
"We matched you with a Tesla Certified Installer who will reach out to you to schedule a site visit. Their contact information is provided below. As a reminder, All-Wheel Drive orders are eligible for free Powershare Home Backup hardware; Cyberbeast orders will also receive an installation credit of up to $4,000.*

After installation is complete, the Home Backup feature will be available following a software update expected to release in June. In the meantime, you will still be able to charge your Cybertruck at home using the Wall Connector"

I am AWD owner, already paid $12K for non-existing FSD, but do not want to spend any more for future product...by spending over $4K now. Questions-
1. anyone already did this installation in CA? if yes, how much did you pay?
2. can I do it by myself? I believe nobody get a powershare hardware upon delivery, so likely Tesla might not allow us to do, but checking just in case.
The answer is no. TESLA will not send you the hardware. They will only send it to a certified installer. Even if you were to get your hands on the hardware and get it installed you wouldn’t be able to commission it. Only a certified Tesla installer can

In Irvine CA, here’s the quote I just received. Don’t know where everyone is coming up with $4K-$6K. It’s less than $2K including permits. Maybe just want to be helpful?

Thanks for the info. Someone is coming out on Monday for me, also in OC. What is the Tesla wall unit that they replaced. Is that just the Tesla mobile charger or something else. Meaning you spent some money when that was installed. Somewhat related, how fast are you charging at home, if it is the mobile connector. Thx

Apparently the Universal Connector(Gen 2) is needed for PowerShare. The Tesla wall charger I have is a year old (Gen1) and does not communicate with the V3 gateway. But the universal connector comes with the AWD along with the gateway so I’m good. Let me know if your estimate is high and need the contact info of my Tesla electrician. ??

How far away is your Universal Wall Charger to the Backup Gateway?

that's a great news! I will take 6months charging then.
The number of miles driven for supercharging has to be REALLY high to equal the money paid for the power share install, would run the #s before opting out.

How would your cybertruck power your house if it isn't at your house?

Yes, powerwall would be needed to keep continuous power to your house even if you aren't there. The benefit of the truck is that it's about 9 powerwalls worth of energy.
