My quote for installing PowerShare 3v and wall charger is extremely high. Mounting both within 5 feet of the subpanel I want to backup was initially almost 7 thousand dollars. That subpanel currently has only 2 circuits , one a/c system and one 15 amp light circuit. I was able to work with the approved installer and did get the quote down to just under 4k. Very dissatisfied.

Anyone else feeling ripped off after analyzing value of FSD, PowerShare, and other small items prior to dropping the 20k for Founders edition? What will Tesla provide to compensate if I choose not pay this unreasonable price for install?

If you chose not to have it installed, you would get 6 months free supercharging for awd and 12 for beast. You cannot keep any of the equipment either.

Nice enphase setup! A family member has been an engineer there from the beginning, extremely high quality inverters!

yes, that Seems pretty absurd for an install 5 feet away. Should be sub $1,000 to me. Also BS that Tesla won’t give us the $2,600 worth of equipment to install as we wish. Those who have electricians or engineers in the family don’t need to spend the absurd money for the install, or might not be ale to install at our current living situation but may be moving soon. The sc credit is a small portion of the value of the equipment, and that it must be used in 6/12 months sucks.

F-150 Lightning owners that installed the hardware necessary for home backup power were paying 9$K-12K for a lower powered backup system. The Cybertruck's home backup system offers much better value if you want that functionality. I'm not sure I do, given the expense and the limited number of times it would actually be useful.

Interesting about the supercharging option, is there a source for that? One of the reasons I didn't pull the trigger on CT FS is because I can't make use of the Powershare (though I'd like to if I could).

I don't think 12 months of free Supercharging sweetens the pot enough for me -- I just don't drive that much -- but if they threw a Basecamp in, I might bite.

A Tesla energy rep told me about it when I scheduled my assessment. There is another PowerShare thread on here where others posted the same. He said I could make a decision before or after I got the quote.

Like you I don’t drive much and very rarely use a supercharger, so that is not much benefit to me either.

My quote came back around $3400 in Florida. My setup is as simple as it gets. I dont think it’s worth it. You can much more cheaply set up the charger to back feed your house. Not automatic and not as much power but waaaaay cheaper and will do in a pinch if I lose power.

My quote also in FL was nearly $5k for a most simple install. It is a monopoly gouge at worst and not competitive at best. A dedicated home natural gas/propane generator including install is under $4k as a point of reference.

Does anyone have a reference to discuss/show an electrician how to 'back feed your house' to get a pro opinion for an individuals situation?

No Electrician is going to authorize you doing a back feed to your house. It’s dangerous and illegal. I do it, but you take it on your own risk. It’s really simple actually just need to make sure you shut off the main breaker. Back feeds through any 240 outlet.

I hate to say it, but the only real value of power share is in conjunction with a powerwall. I can't see paying 5k plus and not even getting load shifting or seamless transition to backup. I have 3 PWs, but I would have only needed one if I had the CT at the time of install, and would have saved almost 20k.

With no other hardware needed for powershare, it's a way better deal, especially with time of use electric rates going through the roof these days.

These electricians are given a license to steal by Tesla. My guy would install this for under $500.
I just built a 1,450 sq ft house, and my whole electrical budget came in under $11k all-in.

Got my proposal last night. I can't say I'm surprised, but I also don't know what to do. We don't have a lot of power outages in my area. Gotta spend 4k to own the 2400 in equipment.
