I'm just curious if this is possible with the Cybertruck. We have a model X and it is such a nice feature not to touch the doors when opening or closing.

I was disappointed when I learned that the Cybertruck doesn't come with it. Now I am hoping that a software update would Suprise me with this feature. I'm sure someone knows if there are even actuators in the CT doors.

No, the doors are pushed open by a linear actuator, but they do not completely open on their own like the model x does.

Neither the Model 3 nor Model Y do it.

I really thought that the CyberTruck would have auto opening doors. Not like the ModelX but just enough not to have to push on the shiny fingerprint loving buttons

I love the doors in the X. pressing the brake to close driver door is a simple thing but its so nice, same with self presenting when they open fully

oh, this might be a thing in an update! I think you're saying that you're wishing the doors simply open without pushing the button, but with proximity? If so, that might be possible in future updates!

I had hoped for the self-presenting X-style doors, too — especially since Elon once tweeted they would be self-presenting. Then when they weren’t delivered that way I hoped it might be a temporary vision-only limitation since it just got turned on for the 2024 Model X with vision-only cars. But as @HaulingAss pointed out, Munro has done his tear down and the CT doesn’t have those actuators.

There was discussion at the delivery event about them being self-presenting. They wouldn't open like Model X but just pop like they do when you hit the button. I had assumed early reviewers were just using the card keys instead of configuring a phone/fob but I stopped hearing mention of it and now that I have my own CT, it definitely doesn't do it...for now. They could easily add it in the future.

Yep same think with the door handles presenting on the model S. The only difference being that it couldn’t retract if accidentally “presented” by error.

I can confirm that the doors do close themselves (while in the presenting position, not while fully open) if left alone long enough. So I suppose that this could be implemented with an update.

@Gaximus , sorry i was really confused by your post

No, there is currently no app option to open the doors at all, or simulate a door button push.

I suspect they can pop open at least as much when the button is pressed with an auto present update. Although if they don't have the actuators in the door hinge, they may not do it if they can't auto close like the X does. With the X in my experience if they pop open if you walk past it with your phone and walk away without opening it they will close itself.
