This is the most interesting diagnosis I've heard. Some saying it stops when the front is replaced but others it hasn't and then both are replaced.

How did you come up with the permanent magnet?

By reading some threads here and reviewing the Tesla service documents. Just a conclusion that makes sense to me.

For the Beast trim, replacing the front driving unit would fix two issues:

1. Speed limited at 114 mph (I believe this is the dual motor’s top speed; Beast should be higher)
2. Potentially fix the vibrating issue at high speeds and regen between 30-85 mph

it was just the front motor assembly. So it could also be the half shafts, or it could be the rear motor. This might be inherent to half shafts, they may just vibrate when you hit exactly the right amount of force to where they stop pushing or pulling and are able to rattle back and forth rotationally. and being an EV, the way that regen works may make it more obvious than ice vehicles with similar suspension/driveline.

I'm only speculating, I don't really know, but I can see the way the splines mesh together on half shafts causing something like this
Do you have the AWD or beast? Did you see the post from Hello4x?

Please report back after your SC visit. I'm curious if the drive units were the root cause of your vibration issue.

Picked up my CyberBeast today after getting the front driving unit replaced.

Results:
1. Happy to report no more regenerative vibration at the wheel and pedal!
2. The new front driving unit is much quieter. Had a long range model 3 for a loaner and I would say the cabin in the model 3 is still more quiet (the motors are more quiet). However the ride quality in CB is superior.
3. Overall driving experience seems much smoother and more refined.
4. Have not checked if my CB now goes faster than 114 mph. Will try once I’m in Mexico or on a private track and report back. This was the main reason I took my CB to the SC!

Thank you for the update! Did service say anything about the permanent magnet? Your diagnosis may have been correct.

Is yours a AWD or beast?

Interesting. I think Hello4x might be correct on the permanent magnet being the issue. Which means in the beast the front unit needs to be replaced but it's the rear in the AWD.

Not really. They played the role of not knowing much outside of engineering saying to replace the front driving unit. Probably smart play as I bet a lot of folks are experiencing the issue and don’t realize it (especially the speed limitation). Very small % of ppl will push their trucks to the speed limit.

I’m trying to figured out if this issue is what I’m experiencing. I have a slight hum and very slight vibration (as if your phone was on the floorboard vibrating). I can hear it more than I can feel it. It’s only felt on the floor and pedal.

Just tested mine again now . Definite vibration with regen braking more pronounced with a foot complete off the pedal and regen braking .

I am so damn annoyed only 860 km on the clock . Looks like I need a new motor. Had so many cars and never replaced a motor before and based upon some people comments in this thread I may have to fight to get it as well.
