I didn't own a TV until right before I retired at age 37.
Didn't own a TV?

But there are so many unloved TVs out there. I didn't buy a TV until I was 33, and it was a close-out please-take-me from Circuit City. But I had 'owned' three TVs before that, not counting my spouse's TV 'old sparky'.

If you listen to what the drone operators say (which, apparently, you don’t), they tell us that carriers with CTs are leaving the factory constantly. The bottleneck is surely that the maximum we have ever seen on a particular carrier is 4 CTs.

that you (and I) do not have one yet is almost orthogonal.
And there are quite a few arriving at stores and getting delivered.

I agree this might be the issue. The Theory of Constraints and all is at work, I suppose. Once you relieve one constraint, you find another, and so on and so on, until you finally reach equilibrium. I’ll bet there could be this constraint with car carriers (# CT per carrier), the number of carriers might also be low, and the truck drivers needed for them might be an issue also. Who knows? But the cause could have multiple inputs too, parts, supply chain etc. As they ramp, new constraints will appear but hopefully the objective number of CT will keep increasing.

I did no t mean that everybody has to sign and NDA ... but some of the influencers may have been given that as a condition of early delivery.
Oh, I see. No, Tesla will not do that, and they my even post anonymously if so.

Like this guy who was cold called for the delivery event pick up. He didn't sign an NDA, but still went anonymously.

Perhaps they are just making them faster now than the current shipping capacity can handle.

I don’t care what you guys think, I’m a rich guy and my 2-week old CT is perfect! Oh, BTW, I have a 100% loan from the Navy Federal CU, but for some reason they sent me an email saying my loan application was declined yesterday. Do you think the cashier's check bounced?
I had a similar thing happen. When I reached out they said Tesla had given me a pre-approval despite the Navy Federal CU check. I had to send them an image of the pre-approval check to have them swap it over. Navy Fed just does it weird I think, throws their workflow off.

Are we all in agreement that Tesla is handing out CTs to the top tier celebs and influencers ahead of reservation holders? Because I dont understand how a 19 yo YTR has a CT already. They would have been 15 at reservation time, and it takes most tubers at least 5 years to become relevant..I understand that its a great marketing scheme and a low cost way to promote, but FFS what about the little people....rant over.

I'd be surprised if logistics was a bottleneck. Production has been moving well for the past 3 weeks and CTs have not really been accumulating on site.

I guess it could be possible that logistics said hold your horses to production, and they simply are not increaseing ramp rate while logistics gets a handle on things... but seems unlikely to me.

Whatever is going on, i'm taking it personally now at 91 days and no VIN. :(

Eh, maybe a few, but i'd say most of the youtubers and celebrities are simply buying second hand.

I’d have totally done this & had a fun road trip back to PA.

Good point. Those rail cars were probably tweaked to hold Model Ys. I wonder if they had to make changes for the Cybertruck.

Even if they only have to truck them up to the railyard in Hutto and ship them out, they still have the 4-CT bottleneck at GT and then they have fewer cars on the train, and they have another 4-CT bottleneck at the terminal yard. No matter how you cut it, the CT is a logistics problem.

In the beginning I was hoping that Tesla would allow us to pick CTs up at GT and give us factory tours. We were planning on flying down, getting the CT, grabbing a cooler full of OUTRAGEOUS Texas BBQ, and driving home. Think of the cost savings for Tesla. Worth more than referral credits for the tour. But no.....

I drove by on Sunday and didn’t see very many in the shipping lot.

I got my cyber beast on March 30th. I’m not anyone famous. I did order mine reveal night early in the presentation.
Thanks for the on the ground reporting! Drone flights are limited this week

I used to be bothered that my 12/03/2019 reservation put me 350,000ish in line for a CT but now, I think it was a blessing in disguise. There is just no way I would pay the Foundation Series markup let alone the $20K they added to the first production pricing. Remember in 2016 when the Model X was introduced? It started at $120K and quickly went up to $140-$150K with the top trim. The base Model X is now $79K and top trims are a little over $100K.

The same thing will happen to the Cybertruck only the discounts will be greater due to the production volume and COGS of the Cybertruck will be much less than the Model X. They never produced more that 28K Model X's in a year and that was back in 2018. I just bought a used 2018 Model X from Tesla with a one year warranty (2 years on the battery and drive train) in great shape with low miles for under $40K. That car originally sold for slightly over $130,000 in 2018. The Model X's have improved a little every year and the same thing will happen with the Cybertruck. I'll probably get slightly used one in a few years and for a lot less than the current price.
