Interesting. I was digging through the app and under release notes you can see the update history regarding tesla solar/energy. You can look back through years of update history and it stops in April of this year. Looks like this is the longest period of time they've gone without an update; almost 5 months. Kind of makes you wonder if they are working on something big. lol

Like PowerShare combined with solar and three generations of powerwall?
likely the most complex thing they have attempted yet.

I have a FS CT and PowerShare. It just powered my house a few days ago when I lost power for only an hour. I'm considering getting solar with a Powerwall 3 and 1-2 expander packs. I forgot that the truck won't work as a backup with that system. Previously I wasn't concerned about waiting for the software but if they don't come out with it I would be rather unhappy. If that's a possibility I may have to reconsider purchasing the Powerwalls. I believe solar will charge the truck if I don't have Powerwall. Is that correct?

From what I've learned from Mongo and others here, it seems the CT will still do PowerShare if you have solar and no PowerWalls, but I'm not 100% sure - hopefully someone who knows better will answer soon, but I wanted to respond quickly because you're probably eager for some information :)

You can add up to 11kW or so to Powershare and it will charge the truck in backup mode. Without being Tesla inverter, you wouldn't have charge on solar, but it will still offset on grid consumption .

With Powerwall (and the future software) truck will help backup the house when off-grid. Charge on solar will use excess sunlight to charge Powerwalls and the truck.
With Powerwall and current software , truck doesn't help out (unless you do a stacked system where Powershare kicks in after Powerwall is depleted, but that's a theoretically setup I've never seen done )

It would seem that it would be wise for Tesla to come out with an update to the software soon because without it they could lose sales of Powerwalls.

I'll have to discuss this with the Solar Company and Tesla. Tesla is sending someone out here in 2 weeks to do a site inspection

You will not regret purchasing a Cybertruck. The software update for Powershare would be amazing, also waiting. It was something I thought about more when we first got the truck. I thought about it when fires had the power down for a bit. The truck is so amazing you will soon just be enjoying the truck and forget about the Powershare firmware :)

There was an interesting article by Electrek which had to do with the announcement of the new Megabrick battery/storage solution. They went over all the major development/engineering people who have left since April to go to a new start-up, Heron Power. If you look at the names and job descriptions, it would like like a lot of people having to do with Cybertruck charging, Powerwall updates and charging, and electrical people left since April. Correlation? Seems like it. Hopefully they had some really good people to step up in these areas and where able to fill those vacancies.

Here is the article.

Heron Power is the Drew Baglino company doing solid state transformer replacements. Tesla storage is becoming more of a mature production/ volume production so I can see designers/ creators wanting a new challenge .
