Sail panels will be secured using roof rack studs.. and stainless Rivnuts... the tailgate cap will be secured to 4 threaded holes on the inside lip of the tailgate that are revealed when plastic cap is removed... for the sail panels this means if your gonna run a roof rack the panels would need to be removed revealing the plastic ones underneath. This is version 1.0 there probably will be a better solution for using the roof rack down the road...

Installation of these pieces will require removing the little trap doors on the sail panels. Simple to do just open half way and then pry out one end with a very small flat head screwdriver. Tailgate cap will also need to be popped off. Mostly this can be done by hand but maybe a flathead screwdriver would make it easier..

I was all in on this until this post. Those "trap doors" are for mounting my crossbars, so eliminating those is a deal breaker for me. I'll follow along and perhaps a later iteration will work for me.

Yeah won’t work with tesla style roof racks. I’m sure a special request could be made for the area over the trap doors to be cut out so stock roof racks could be used but then you would need some other solution to attach the sail panels if you weren’t running your particular rack. Life is always a series of choices.

I see diminishing returns here with a very limited use case. Beside being quite expensive, they are stainless steel, add to the vehicle weight up high, and would scratch if used to carry wood or actually protect the vehicle. Seems to me that the sacrificial plastic material that’s already there could be replaced a few times before paying for this setup. And it honestly looks amateurish.

Then don’t buy em Dave. Go take a seat in your armchair and keep on typing out your brilliant comments while other people put in the work.
Just pointing out the obvious. People buy the lamest stuff just because it exists. Try to make the case.

since the bolts hold those on and the cross bars attach over the plastic would not the cross bars be able to hold those down? Could you cut out those openings for cross bars and add a "plate" to cover those holes with bolts going to the factory hold downs? That way I could use my rack and factory holes but still have the ability to cover them up with a simple plate?

Yes , that would work, whatever plate was used to hold down the panels would slightly take away from the clean lines and would be criticized by others but it definitely could be done.. I’ll talk to Jasper about it.

Hoping to get this done soon. Life keeps getting in the way. Hopefully I’ll have my finished set on the truck in 2-4 weeks… In the meantime….

I have a pre-order with Cyberrak for their “Full Rack + Toolboxes and Enclosure”
They were very responsive with my questions and updates. From their website they already have some prototypes.
I've put in a preorder as well. They are in NC so I plan on driving down when the are available. Its refundable so I'm not too worried if they don't actually work out (wait... the cybertruck was refundable too.... *facepalm*). I'm only interested in the full size rack with no panels or boxes.
Based on what I've read and talking to them I think this solution will be the easiest to unbolt and lift into garage rafters when not needed. My primary reason for this one. The stainless didn't hurt it either ; P

The actual on vehicle pictures weren't around when I preordered. The new extra bar on top is interesting.

Ok I pinned Jasper down on pricing.
Will be sold as follows

2. Tailgate cover alone. $550

3. Add lower sail panels later $550 each

4. Add upper sail panels above doors. $300 each.
Pricing does not include tax or shipping.

This will be top notch quality. All seams will be TIG welded and metal finish will mimic original Tesla metal finish. Made in America

I'm actually very interested in the tailgate cover. Is there a place to look at install instructions? Not sure how this piece connects to the tailgate.
Thanks

It’s not rocket science. Just pry off the existing cap with a flat screwdriver, inside lip has 4 or 5 torx screws that you remove. Same screws are used to secure new stainless cap in place…The stainless tailgate cover is very robust.. Pretty cool as a stand alone piece. Upper and lower sail panels would add lots more to the clean look.. Tesla should have done this….
