I'm wondering if it might be possible to take delivery AT the factory? Instead of having the truck shipped to me? If I can take delivery at the Texas factory would it allow me to get my CyberTruck sooner? (I'm thinking about how Tesla tends to deliver vehicles to local customers sooner than further away customers.)

My guess is that I/we won't be able to take delivery of the truck at the factory; mainly because of rules in Texas about dealerships. That said, what are the chances the law regarding that will be changed in 2023 thus allowing "onsite" delivery?

Even if the law isn't an issue (or is changed) do you think Tesla would "allow" us to take onsite delivery? Talk about an epic road trip home!

You should be able to pick it up in Texas. The rule is that Tesla can't do a face to face vehicle sale but if you buy it online, you can pick it up there. Tesla may have, in the past, delivered locally first, but with the Model Y, I believe they spread out the first ones so that the maximum number of people would see them on the road and not just Californians. I mean, we got ours 2 months after ordering it back in April 20, 2020. At that time, Tesla was just one month or so into production and sent ours out to Kansas City for us to pick up (about 2 1/2 hours away from us in Nebraska).

Texas is pretty much a no-nonsense state, devoid of red tape and Cali-commie style PC bullshit. But how stupid is it that they allowed Giga Austin to be built, only to forbid sales without a car stealership involved, knowing this is Telsa's MO. They sure missed the mark on this one. This toxicity is on you, Texas.

Great! One issue down... one to go! :)

Has anyone taking delivery of a Tesla from any factory previously?

Tesla Cybertruck Taking deliver at the Texas factory? 39066327-335D-4577-B739-E8030FAA7021

This is the north end of the Austin Gigafactory during Cyber Rodeo. These were delivery stations for people to take delivery of the first Austin-built MY’s.

It was done for the event, IDK if they would do a “factory delivery” ordinarily.

While there is no footage, Joe Tegtmeyer says that new cars are transported off site to be rearranged on trucks by geography. Local deliveries probably happen there…?

Elon said that the factory would have public accessible areas and would be a great outdoor area and park. I hope they have some kind of "owner experience" thing for factory pick up. That would make it a fun time.

Could be my imagination rewiring my memory, but I seem to recall Elon said something about this at some point. Anyway if they do offer factory pickup and factory tours, I will 100% fly down and drive my CT home! what a fun road trip!

I picked up my (May) 2013 Model S P85 from the Fremont factory, got a tour, and then drove it home to San Diego. Met Franz in the delivery center by coincidence, as he was there to scope out some design changes that were in the works for that space...I would pick up my truck in Austin and drive it back here in a heartbeat...

By the way, my avatar photo is me showing Franz my Truck order at the unveiling event. I also asked him to sign a photo of when we met in Fremont in 2013, and he was happy to do so. I love Franz!

When I got my model 3, I picked it up at the Fremont factory and got a factory tour on the same day. It was an awesome experience.

I will consider picking up my cyber truck in Texas if I can also get a tour of the factory. If they're not doing tours then I will just pick it up at my local delivery center.

"Cali-commie style PC bullshit" Please tell us how you 'really' feel about California. Don't hold back.

And Elon was specifically asked if CTs could be picked up from the factory and he said yes, albeit quite some time ago.

I love the weather and the people, detest the rest. I'd like to have Arizona laws in CA. Mebbeh a big quake will have the California coast in Arizona. Now there's a sensible state.

Texas Legislature is very corrupt. You can legally write checks on the Legislature floor, get this, while a bill is being voted on. Many of the Texas Auto dealers are billionaires, and write big tex checks. Elon was naive to move to texas in haste.
