Hello everyone,
I know I have been complaining that Tesla passed me up on the reservation list.
Well! I just got the invitation to purchase the FS version. It looks like Tesla is starting back at the top of the list and hitting up on the reservations that they passed over for the FS. I would love to accommodate this invitation, but really don't want to pay this $20K +tax = $1200($6000 (instead of $4800))+$7500 (tax credit lose). This means I will pay $28,700 more for the FS model. I will get about FSD (which I have currently and don't really use much), some accessories, House Power share (cost me $4000 to hook up) and a badge. Maybe worth a total of $18,000 MAX. So about $2000 I would normally want to order after purchase of Standard CT.
So, $28,700 - $2000 accessories = $26,700 extra for the FS.
IS IT REALLY WORTH IT?
Waiting means end of year most likely before delivery of normal CT.
Time for Tesla to get battery technology improved, Correct some manufacturing current issues, update software issues.

Not waiting means:
Getting the CT now, paying more, living with non FDS and Auto pilot for a while, living with current battery efficiency.

Frustrating on what I should Do.
What do you all think?

Are you looking for the group to tell You it’s ok to pass on the FS and wait for the CT you want?
If so, feel free to wait.
If you are only looking at the money, just wait and purchase a used one in a year or so. No harm nor fault. It’s actually wise if you are strongly looking at the financial commitment on ANY Limited Edition NEW Model.
(Just my economic opinion.)

I received my invitation about three weeks ago... and it hasn't progressed any further... how long will it take? I'm currently on step 4, they will notify when it's time for delivery date...

If you ordered on Dec 1, you are probably #375,000 in line.
Ordering on 11/26 is WAY better.

If you want a Foundation Series, that moves you way up the list as well.

If you want a non FS, $79,000 Cybertruck, it is unclear when a Nov 26, 2019 reservation holder can get that version CT. Timelines for anyone Dec 1st, 2019 and later are just really murky.
I'd be fine with an FS AWD; I'd be much more relaxed if I could get some kind of order on the books.

I think they are about done offering the foundation series and that’s why they have gone back to front of the res line.
No one here probably knows whether that is so, maybe @cvalue13 since he has sources.

Nearly everyone on this forum speculates on whatever. Maybe you'd like to be the "Chief Opinion Monitor" - ya know, just so everyone toes the line you prefer?
NEARLY everyone :?)

So much speculation and guessing.

all I know for sure:

Nov 22, 2019 $100 got my RN 112794xxx @ 11:42 pm EST

Jan 9, 2024 got my invite to configure

Jan 25, 2024 placed my configuration order for $1,000

Feb 2, 2024 completed my PowerShare survey (we’ve got solar with Tesla and an EVSE in garage already 🤞)

As far as I can see, I’m just the second person on order spreadsheet to complete an order here in Connecticut.

I’m thinking 3Q 2024 for delivery, but who knows.

As for FS, I can only say with any certainty that **at present** there are no plans to offer/build FS all year, nor are they near done offering/building FSDAWD. Typical of all things, Tesla tends to think in calendar quarter increments, all else equal - so it’s worth eyeing the at or just after Q1 time period as a likely inflection point of any big changes.

At the same time, Tesla does and with FS has already changed their “plans” a time or two.

So whatever Tesla’s thinking is today, it’s subject to change.

Moving instead to noting just some theoretical possibilities to keep in mind:

(1) as ever, I think it’s worth holding a distinction between the FSAWD and FSBeast

to date, the configurator has allowed either FSAWD or AWDB, but - and this I don’t know, it’s just possible that - at some point FSB config closes while FSAWD remains open. Given the build pace of FSB, Tesla might reach its limit of how long it wants to be backlogged on FSBs. And, to say nothing of Tesla possibly intending to keep FSB more exclusive/limited in number of FSAWD.

so not only are Tesla’s plans subject to change, but there’s the possibility they have/chance plans with respect to one trim different from the other.

(2) other thing is, and I know I’ll catch hell for this, and presumptive by saying I’m not saying this is likely but merely possible (esp with Tesla): it’s not necessarily the case that people who have already configured or in the future configure an FS that ultimately gets converted to a non-FS order.

Which is to say, it’s not out of the question that if/when Tesla decides to shut down FS builds that folks who at that point haven’t finalized the purchase aren’t given an “sold out” outcome and reconfig to non-FS

To be clear, you're saying at some point they are gonna stop FS production, before they have delivered FS trucks to everyone who ordered. Meaning some people who ordered FS will receive non-FS trucks?

Everyone that has ordered FS will receive FS unless they refuse delivery or cancel their order.

I think it is a certainty that they will not deliver non-FS before all FS are delivered, that includes the FS Cyberbeast. 2024 is the year of the FS and that will be my thought unless things drastically change with production.

What would make you think this? they aren't going to hold back deliveries when the production line is moving until the very last FS beast gets delivered. There will certainly be non FS deliveries before the last FS beast is delivered.
