I want a wrap that shows off the sexy exoskeleton....
An X-ray wrap would look cool. It would show the parts below the SS skin like the air suspension canisters, electrical wiring, bed castings, inner door shell, frunk bits, etc.

Owners will get creative like this plumber…

What if….Tesla has found a way to treat the body so it won’t rust, then paint is replaced by the wraps? Would save them $$?

Wraps are temporary, The Life span of a "wrap" ain't the life of the car.
Can't beat Stainless for durability.

I’m going el natural. I love the industrial look of Tesla’s proprietary stainless steel finish.

Yeah I was thinking the exact same thing when I was writing that poor exoskeleton joke... ;)

A holographic wrap of a x-ray of the interior of the Cybertruck would be pretty epic.
Or maybe a 3D Plaid "warp" on the tailgate using a infinite mirror. Heaps of options seeing that it is fairly flat, holographic should work well.

If I'm going to pay $7K to $10K to wrap my CyberTruck, I'm going to choose something that no one else has. Not one of the 4 choices offered by Tesla that other drivers will have. But that's just me... :)
Im the same

Im thinking a plain color PPF, with Decals.. Im not sure if its possible.

Price is absolutely insane. About 2x what a quality PPF wrap would cost at a local shop.
I’m guessing a it’s a test run for the CT, but demand for the wrap on the 3/y will be next to nothing
Local shops here aren't half Tesla's prices... just paid $5,500 to satin wrap our model Y...

Same in CA. Super expensive and hard to justify.

My wife wants to keep it for a long time and we live where snow and salted roads exist. So, we decided to do a wrap which she can enjoy and it sets her apart a little. Then, in 5 years or so, we can pull it (Expel Stealth wrap) off and have a few more years of good looking car. Plus, while I don't actually KNOW for sure, I've heard that Tesla paint is soft and more susceptible to damage than most. This "self healing" wrap should help that. The last wrap sure did.

The soft paint is one of the few things I hate about my Model 3. I have had my car for more then 5 years and if you look at the paint closely you can see all sorts of marks. From a distance it still looks great, but if you look at it closely you can see that the paint hasn't held up well.

Its one of the things I am most excited about for the Cybertruck, not having the paint get dinged up so easily.

I'm going to start by saying I've been a pretty die hard Tesla fan, Tesla owner, and Tesla stock investor for several years. I have the Mega Blocks CT, the RC car, I 3D printed a CT, and have the matchbox car, I've built a business around Teslas specifically, etc.

But it seems with every large company there is a move that turns them from a great and helpful company to an evil corporation. I think Tesla may have finally made that move.

With Google it was removing "Don't Be Evil" from their motto, giving complete access to everyone's data to the government, and having skewed search results. For Facebook it was selling everyone's data for big bucks. For Amazon it was creating prime and shutting down all small mom and Pop shops (Walmart helped). And more. (This isn't the point of the post, just some simple examples - please don't derail the discussion on what made different companies evil)

This came out: https://www.cybertruckownersclub.co...lable-cybertruck-wrapping-a-certainty-🤔.9462/ about Tesla doing wraps and I have a different take.

Typically, Tesla has been vertically integrated as a way to protect the company and become as efficient as possible. To this point they only companies that have lost out in Tesla's moves have been large corporations that didn't want to supply materials/parts to Tesla as they were growing and transitioning an industry. However, with their move into wraps and PPF it signals that they are finally going against the small mom and pop shops.

If you own a wrap shop that specializes in Teslas you are now directly competing with Tesla. And many will say, and have said on the linked thread, that they prices are too high, or that they would rather have the quality of a specializing shop to do the install or that if you offer a great product/result then people will still choose you over Tesla... that didn't stop tens of thousands of great stores from going under from being undercut by cheap products on Amazon. And then there is the argument of "why don't you wrap other cars" - to which I would reply "they probably got into the Tesla specialization due to a love of Teslas not a love of cars".

So all of this is to say that I don't really understand why Tesla is taking on this new wrapping business when that has often been left as a slow process for aftermarket and mom and pop shops.

Is this the first Tesla attack on small businesses, will they continue making moves that shut down hundreds or thousands of small businesses? Obviously, Optimus has the potential to change everything, but let's save that for a thread of it's own.

Yes.

In a scenario where something like this takes off, competition will increase, and many new people happy to do it for less.

Not only in shops., but word of mouth, Outsourcing service webs, etc... private jobs who work from home or come to you.

Imagine, Art students... work for bread and water. :ROFLMAO:
That's what people thought when Amazon started selling things that weren't books. Or when Walmart opened a competing business in town.
