It's not speculation, it's math. I was 330,000 in line. I now have a 39,000 vin in my driveway. So lucky me, I was in the position to purchased one after saving for the truck. Reality check, the price was at $60,000. Now the Basic truck, walking out the door, nothing special, Non-FS,+ FSD Delivered is $93,000. Plus Insurance. Not to many people can drop that amount of cash. As for the rest of the people that finance that amount ? I'd like to see some payment numbers and insurance. The CT is on it's way down...They have to start the 2WD and reduce the price to feed the lower price range. Then remember they do have to do maintenance on the line.

InsideEVs have some good reporters. Just because you don't like what they are saying doesn't mean it isn't true. This story has been confirmed from multiple sites.
Only thing I find wrong in the article is how things are stacked together to say there's a demand problem.

Duh, of course there's a ceiling to the number of people buying $80k+ trucks.

But to say taking a single three day break at a factory which has never had a consistent schedule must be because of demand is... unwarranted.

What? You got to be kidding. Real News, Fake News, He said, She Said. What the "F". I am tired of this shit. Give me back the days of Walter Cronkite.
Many businesses like them have soiled their own name so badly that even tabloid would be an insult. The absolute vast majority of publications chase money over truth.

let me speculate to my own wish & interest-Tesla is tooling to produce a smaller/mid size Cybertruck for the market here & abroad. I'm already calculating how much T$LA to sell & the trade in value of my other MY. :ROFLMAO:

Apparently demand has caught up to supply.
It’s kind of hard to assess demand for the Cybertruck, because Tesla won’t reveal how many they actually sell. For example, we’ll probably never know exactly how many CTs were produced for the “Limited Edition” Foundation Series.

However, here are a couple numbers that Tesla has publicly released:

>125,000 = annual Cybertruck production capacity at the Texas Gigafactory. This is equivalent to >31,250 Cybertrucks per quarter. According to Tesla, that is the “current installed capacity” as of 3Q 2024; it does not reflect future ramping.

22,915 = 3Q 2024 deliveries of “Other Models” (other than the Model 3 and Model Y)

The “Other Models” category includes the Model S, Model X, and Cybertruck (basically, the expensive Teslas). The CT is thought to be the biggest dog in this category; it represents around 50 to 70% of the total, or about 12,000 to 16,000 vehicles, depending on who is doing the estimating.

Let’s assume that about 16,000 CTs were sold in 3Q 2024. That is only around half of Tesla’s stated 3Q 2024 CT production capacity of >31,250 per quarter. Even if every single vehicle in the “Other Models” category was a CT (which is clearly not true, because Tesla is still making the S/X), it would still be well below Tesla's current CT production capacity.

We can reasonably assume that Tesla kept producing the Foundation Series until the demand ran out. And based on the numbers, it appears that FS sales were demand-limited in 3Q 2024: the demand was significantly lower than the potential supply.

Of course, things could be different now, in 4Q 2024. The price of the CT obviously fell in 4Q 2024, because Tesla introduced the non-Foundation option, along with some attractive incentives. So we might expect CT sales to be higher in 4Q 2024. We should get clues about the demand for non-Foundation CTs in January 2025, when Tesla releases the 4Q 2024 “Other Models” delivery number, and independent analysts make new estimates.

It’s one of these, but the media and general public doesn’t know which one:

-Retooling Cybertruck assembly line for greater efficiency/vehicle production improvements
-Shutting down the assembly line for routine maintenance
-Tesla doesn’t want unsold Cybertruck’s on their Q4 balance sheet, so halt production for 3-days
-Demand has caught up to supply
