in app in top left corner under RN11283xxxx number I have "View details" link, when I click on it still shows FS Design 35inch wheels, White decor, FSD, Premium accs.

No email with documentation.
Under Account, Order Agreement did not change, still shows FS
Yeah so it appears nothing is actually changed. Maybe in a day or so but it still seems unlikely. They obviously do not have a standard policy or mechanism for this downgrade. They probably didn't even think of it. I think until there is an actual confirmation that an order is changed *out* of a FS to a standard this is just one associate making some decision that the rest of the associates are not confident or equipped to make.

Why can’t we get the $7,500 tax credit? The truck is $79k … FSD doesn’t count. The rest are options like bidirectional charging equipment… not the truck.
because that’s not how the tax credit works

the “Foundarion Series” is a trim level. Composed of OEM-installed options that are included in the as-configured MSRP.

Tesla could up the as-configured MSRP to $80,001 and fill the glovebox with Jelly-Belly’s, and it’d be over the cap.

Meanwhile, even if that’s not how it worked, the $79,990 base configuration is $10 from the cap. that cap would be busted just by the floor mats included with the FAWD, to say nothing of the upgraded wheels/tires, premium interior materials, etc.

Tesla reps are not given the right guidance, and they all are not on the same page, adding more to the madness!

I don’t own a Tesla. This is my first experience going through their processes. Is this how Tesla generally rolls?

I’m a Porsche fanboy and hoping to be a Tesla fanboy in the future. This type of misinformation doesn’t look promising!

Could they charge $79k for the truck and 20k for FS FSD to “help” customers qualify? The tax law says MRSP.. that is clearly 79k for the AWD… IMO the foundation things are just “dealer extras , like mats, coatings, warranty, charging dealer fees, ,etc. I think we could claim the credit without an audit. … at least have a chance to win the audit… worst case our lawyers argue it out ;)

If you knew you were for sure getting it in October. That’s a lot of variables that have to go exactly right.
I hope that yall know that the one thing that you can count on is that any date that the reservation calculator gives you is going to be wrong.

There are only a few dates right now that have been published (and of course are probably going to be wrong as well)

AWD Jan-Mar and Jan-Apr
Beast (orig Dec-Jan) mid to later half 2024
RWD Early 2025

There is absolutely no way to guess anything down to the month. Heck, the quarter is probably an optimistic guess.
No one, including Tesla know what the ramp up period is going to be.

Here is my conjecture.

Tesla CANNOT downgrade you from FS to non-FS. BUT I think they can put you on hold for extended periods. This would mean that as long as they put your delivery on hold until after the FS stops being manufactured, then you will no be able to get a FS and will, by default, have to get a non-FS.

So, in a sense you are being downgraded but not really. This either means, a.) your rep knows that FS is done being made by end of october. or b.) he totally guessed and if FS is still being offered at end of october you will be getting one (unless you back out or get someone to delay again.)

thats why it says earliest. That's not a down to the month projection. It gives them unlimited time after OCT lol

I got my invite today but as some of the others, I'm going to wait. A big reason I buy EV's new is to get the $7500 tax credit (now instant rebate). So until I can buy the non-FS, I'll be waiting it out.

Yes that’s how Tesla is. I’ve had a Model S and now a Model 3 and it’s crazy how things change on a whim and you can get different stories from different Tesla reps.
I’m a huge Porsche fan and never had any issues with the dealers being off page.
Had a 97 993, 944, Boxster S, and a Cayenne diesel. I loved all of them, but I just love electric more.

I think the rules say something about whatever is attached to the vehicle is part of it. So with the wheels, white decor, etching, it doesn’t qualify.

trust me, I’d love the rebate as I qualify for it. I just didn’t want to wait another year (my guess) so I ordered the AWD.

I converted my FS AWD to non-FS AWD via Tesla app chat before VIN was assigned. New ETA Oct. 31, 2024

Full timeline
I got FW invite on Jan. 11. Got excited, ordered FS AWD next day.

Got hit with buyer remorse and after reading this tread decided to wait and see.
On Friday, Jan. 19, got invite to "Complete Pre-Delivery tasks" and I asked via chat to downgrade.
Today, Jan. 22 - I completed tasks: provided driver license, declined trade-in, specified payment. About an hour later I got chat message that my FS order was changed to "Standard AWD". I asked to confirm that I am not losing my place in RN line and got confirmation that downgrade ".. will not cancel your order and once AWD is available for configuration you will still be able to configure the AWD"

Later I went to Cybertruck - Pre-delivery tasks and under "Schedule" tab it shows
"Your delivery is on hold
Earliest Delivery
10/31/24"

That’s awesome man! I still haven’t received any message from Tesla in my app. I’d love to try this with my rep when they reach out. And I ordered on 12/26/24. Hopefully they reach out soon.
