Out of Spec is 100x more objective/honest feedback than you will get from MT or C&D. Kyle was stopped from doing a towing test otherwise I was expecting a TSLA buying opportunity :ROFLMAO:.
Stopped from doing a towing test? By who??

that didn't seem queued to a discussion about towing, but instead just the range test stuff?
Try it again. starts around 25:50

that did it!

interesting

their plug was at Tesla, sounds like was separating for some reason about the time of the shoot, such that by the time of this follow-up video they were no longer at Tesla

palace intrigue!

I was late again this morning. My program threw an error at 2:30 am and stopped working. My first scan of the morning was at 7:18am with 8 activated.

Probably nothing to get too excited over but at this point - any news / data is exciting for me

sharing another point of data.

Negative / realistic take: This is probably being handled by a team independent from delivery of vehicles and they are being sent out in mass with no considering or link to VINs being assigned or vehicles being delivered

optimistic / Hopiunm: THEY ABSOLUTELY DID NOT NEED TO EVEN MENTION VINS BEING ASSIGNED IN THIS EMAIL AND THE FACT THAT THAT LANGUAGE WAS INCLUDED WAS INTENTIONAL AND TESLA IS GETTING READY TO MATCH VINS TO CUSTOMERS AND START COORDINATING BOTH POWERSHARE INSTALLS AND DELIVERY FOR NON EMPLOYEES!!!!

i would add a third, middle, interpretation:

they are merely signaling the gating items before people should start calling them with dumb questions

ie, “thanks for filling out the survey, which is irrelevant to you until you’re actually *this* close to receiving a truck, and even then - dont call us we’ll call you”

Ya, I’d file that under realistic - option 1 and pretty much how I took it once the initial rush of “new information omg what does this mean?!!” Adrenaline wore off

Although - I can absolutely see it having the opposite effect of what you suggested and what Tesla intended and people will call with “I just got this email, can you share my vin so I can schedule?!”

I had already talked to a Tesla representative in the power wall/wall connector/renewable energy side of Tesla early when these questions came out. I got a lot of insight (I assume) primarily because I have a reasonably substantial Tesla install. (16.38kwh solar array and x6 power wall v2)

I had questions about the fact that a gateway can’t address more than 10 power walls at a time and the Cybertruck is roughly the equivalent in energy density of 9 power walls.

So the logical question:

Does the gateway view the Cybertruck as a highly dense single power wall and my total number would be 7 power walls.

If I had 10 Power walls would the CT work without a secondary gateway?

Does the PowerShare feature even work in tandem with the power walls or is it logically switched (one or the other, not both)

What I learned is that it the highly trained and knowledgeable person I was talking too, had no idea we where this far along in the Cybertruck process but found all the training material internal in Tesla.

They informed me it’s most likely a small team managing this right now before it goes wide to the rest of the renewable energy side and I would need to wait till they made contact.

Key element that I was informed on is there are two kinds of “vin assigned” perspectives.

One: it’s *your* vehicles VIN in which you have purchased already from Tesla.

Two: a VIN exists and has been assigned and you have the options to pay Tesla for it to be yours.

I think they are talking about One more than Two since there is a greater than zero chance a level two scenario the customer doesn’t come up with funding or decides to pass for any number of reasons.

Super interesting insight re: PowerShare and power walls. I have 4 power walls + solar in one of my homes and was just spec-ing a new system for another home and was debating the amount of walls I wanted to add (when I did the first, the order maxed out at 4). Not sure where I'll be parking the cybertruck majority of the time but good to consider the information you found re: the max 10 power walls per gateway.

As far as vin assigned - I dont think option 1 or 2 and more "if and when a vin is assigned, you can schedule this install" - though on reddit, someone got an email stating their home was not qualified for power share and they were being offered a charging credit.

My guess - the install team for the PowerShare are independent from the delivery team but the power share team has reviewed the submitted surveys from users and this is not just a blanket / autoemail to ALL foundation holders - they have at least processed the surveys and weeded out the folks who's municipalities or energy providers are incompatible with the device.
