After I completed a full scan of AWD/Beast VIN under 1200 last night, I decided to run AWD 1220-5000. I ended up finding 8 AWDs then ran a few beast vins for the gaps and adjacent last digits. I found 3 beasts as well (I made up the capture date & time for those).

The last time I scanned for VINs over 1200 was 12/24 into 12/25. So I dont know when these were built but it was sometime between Christmas and yesterday. I'm running all beast VINs between 1236-5000 now.

Logically these might be more showroom units but I really don't know. The beasts kind of throws a wrench in my showroom theory. If they aren't showroom units, I'm open to any other theories.

If i'm looking at things correctly, I've been seeing Beasts in the low number range. Have you scanned from 0001-1200? I did see a few running checks manually on NHTSA.

I scan for all beasts and AWD VINs below 1200 every night. I only scan the next few VINs continuously thru the day in order to know the exact time the build became active.

So there is no more active beast under 1200 from what I have already reported (0-3, 5-27, 911). Now at 1226-1228 to that list but are they foundations, showroom, test drive units....?

Every time I see you post VINs I think to myself that could be mine. Thank you!

As someone who tracks even the simplest Amazon prime package out of whatever neurotic tendencies exist between my ears… unironically - there is a bit of joy seeing progress and data

My theory is that that the beasts are not ordered / converted at a high enough rate to warrant Tesla having a rhyme or rhythm to their build or allocation

between that and the supposed parts/motor bottleneck and the vague delivery timeline they are treating them much like AMG or any offshoot - premium trim for legacy brands

“We’ll build them when we can, the fact that they are limited actually increases the value to the market that is buying them, the people buying them are not price or timeline sensitive and are buying as enthusiasts - because they have FU money”

pair that up with a little extra pomp and circumstance during beast delivery and you can keep churning out the “mass market” models while using the excess capacity and shoulders of the ramp to satisfy that client - buyer.

incidentally - Apple has been doing this for years - about to do the same with the Vision Pro as well as any new MacBook Pro launch these days.

the highest Performance chips (the silicon ultras) shipping weeks - months after the more affordable skus and only offered in custom builds because why waste time and energy servicing the loyal customer who is willing to wait (I don’t say that out of bitterness and should not be read as a shot at either company- on the contrary - I agree with the logic and priority as a business)

the order tracking list on this website suggests otherwise. Orders appear to be roughly 60/40, which is no small thing for a $120K truck that’s just faster.

perhaps Tesla consoles itself currently with the unintended side effect that rarity will breed some halo effect of exclusivity in the Beast

But this was not the plan

Not that I think Tesla is above it, but instead that other factors and consequences of not getting these out faster would outweigh - in this specific instance - any ancillary halo effect motivations.

they’ve positioned the CT as a volume play to investors. While the volume is what it is right now (for every beast they can’t send down the line, they get to send an AWD in its place), I think they do care more about the margin on the Beast than they care about any ancillary halo effect of rarity.

plus, the VIN activation plans are set up to go as planned, in order. That they’re being forced to skip around their VIN activation plan is alone some proof that this staging of AWD/Beast was not the intent.

and, we separately know the driveline bottleneck exists to explain the skipping.

In any event, doesn’t change the end result. At the moment, a decision between ordering AWD vs Beast is also in part a decision between two very different expected timeline’s to delivery. At current pace, they’ll deliver every AWD on this forum’s order list (500 or so) before they’ve delivered the first 10 of the CB’s on this forum’s order list)

I do agree on the priority but based on how Tesla works and how they are building units around mass scale production, I feel it being an extra 3-5 steps in the manufacturing standpoint and possibly around the same in the amount of additional parts that are required to be installed. Probably having a bottleneck with sourcing parts or as you mentioned, they don't want to focus on the CB as a priority.

Has anyone seen any 9xx VINassigned to a customer yet?... The latest VIN assignment to customers that I've seen have been in the high 7xx range (8xx were MC builds), so...

For those waiting on Beasts- looks like trucks with the light bar (which I’m presuming are beasts and not AWD optioned with them) spotted in the factory lots

that is an employee/visitors lot

and those units are as likely or more likely to be MC units “owned” by the groups as they are FS’s owned by employees

A lot of states like Washington it’s illegal to have an uncovered light bar like that onless your off-road. Will these come with a cover?

How do you know? I swear I read somewhere that they were adjusting the production schedule in terms of what hours the shift works because of the weather. could mean they are starting later in the day when it's warmer?

Thanks for the idea. I haven’t really been keeping up with news the last few days. Scanning all day but check in every few hours.

I have a longer continuous scan list going today of 51 VINs:
AWD: 1078-1095, 1220-1224, 1236-1245
Beast: 28-30, 1220-1224, 1236-1245

Ill do a full scan of all inactive VINs under 1250 for AWD and Beast in a couple hours if I don't see anything hit on the continuous scan.
